Little one's pov

Why I'm not surprised that my wishes never come true. I'm not dead. The darkness I was in started to recede and I felt myself waking up. I carefully tried to open my eyes before opening them fully. I didn't make a sound, I just observed my surroundings.

The first thing I noticed was that I was no longer in my cell but in a real bed, which felt too soft after years of lying on a flat old mattress. It's been so long since I had any luxury..

My body felt light. A little sore here and there, but I felt better than I had in years. I quietly raised my hand to my neck. The collar is gone..

"Neo...?" I whispered but I got no answer. I hope he's okay, I'm not going to live a day if I've lost my wolf too..

I didn't manage to be sad for long when my attention was drawn to the person in the room. He was so focused on whatever he was doing that he didn't notice me waking up. Where exactly am I?

Suddenly the most recent memories came back to me. He said he is my mate, he has taken me away from Alpha Gregor. But he's an Alpha too.. Just because I'm not in chains doesn't mean he can't be like Alpha Gregor.

He looks bigger and stronger than Alpha Gregor. As long as I remember my place maybe I won't be punished..

I just stared at him and waited. He's pretty handsome I have to admit. Then he closed his laptop and got up, I tensed. I watched as he stretched and then he turned in my direction. I just stared at him in silence.

He looked surprised as he looked at me and after staring for a moment a small smile appeared on his face.

"Hello little one." He said and cautiously stepped closer.

I didn't answer. I watched what he was going to do. Not that it matters I just have to accept whatever he's going to do.

My eyes were fixed on the large scar on his face. The sight made me sad and I wanted to know what happened to him but it's none of my business.

"You didn't kill me." I said accusingly.

"Of course not. You are my mate." He answered.

Mate. I'm not suitable for anyone's mate.

"Are you going to mate with me now?" I asked even though I knew I had no say in it.

Alpha looked shocked.

"What? Of course not!" He answered still shocked. For some reason, his answer sent a sting through my chest.

"You don't want me?" I continued the survey.

"Of course I want! You don't even know how much but now is not the time and I will wait until you are ready." Alpha sighed in frustration.

"I'm Darius. What's your name?" He finally asked. My name..

My mind threw me back years, to a time when my name was taken from me. I remember every hit I got from the whip every time I tried to hold on to my name. Alpha Gregor continued until I couldn't take it anymore and from then on I was just..

"I'm a slave, property of Alpha Gregor." The answer came without hesitation.

A murderous growl filled the room but I feel no fear. After years of torture I'm just an empty shell, I don't care what happens to me.

"You're not! And I don't want to hear you say that sick bastard's name ever again!" Alpha Darius growled.

"Then l'm your property Alpha Darius. You can call me whatever you want." I answered.

We stared at each other for a long time until he gave up and huffed.

"Fine. I'll call you little one until you tell me your real name and you are not my property. You should eat and drink something. I'll be back soon." Alpha Darius said and left the room.

I rolled onto my back and stared at the ceiling. I crossed the line. I shouldn't talk to anyone unless specifically told to. Maybe he's not too angry.

"Neo?" Still no answer. I sighed and carefully tried to sit up. It's so strange to be able to move freely, I have to enjoy this while I can.

The door to the room opened and Alpha Darius carried a tray with soup, juice and water next to the bed. I looked away and just sat on the bed.

"The doctor ordered that your diet should be light at first so that your body gets used to the food again. Please feel free to eat as much as you can handle." He said, moving the tray closer. Maybe this is some kind of test.

I kept my eyes in my hands and said nothing. The silence stretched and stretched until Alpha's nerves failed.

"You need to eat something!" He shouted and I looked at him blankly, after which I took the tray and carefully started to taste the soup. If I wasn't so empty and broken I could have cried when the taste of the soup took over my mouth. It was so good.

I ate as much as I could and cleared the tray away. Alpha Darius let out a deep sigh and knelt beside the bed.

"Thank you for eating and I'm sorry for yelling. I- I have a short temper and I don't interact much with others so this is new to me. I want you to know that I will never hurt you and you are safe here. Okay?" He asked but I refused to look at him or respond other than nodding. I must be quiet and obey.

After a long silence he sighed again and stood up.

"I'll take the dishes away and give you some alone time." He said and left the room looking defeated.

I curled up under the blanket. Why is he sad? I did as he said. Could he really be any different from Alpha Gregor? Can I trust him? No. I'm not going to take any chances.

Alpha Darius didn't come back and I was getting tired. I closed my eyes and let sleep come.
