Fionn's pov
I looked myself from the mirror. I looked good, beautiful even. My hair reached up to my chin and Rosette's daughter Suri had made couple of small braids with pearls in my hair. I was wearing a traditional royal white outfit, perfect for tonight's party.
My uncle Calix had decided to hold a party where I would get to see my family from the elven side and I was looking forward to the party. I think the only thing that bothers me is how long we had to wait for this party because I've been here for over two months already..
"He did it on fucking purpose. He purposely wanted to delay our visit." Neo growled.
"Don't curse Neo it doesn't suit you."
"I'm fucking mad. Furious. I want my mate. So you better get used to it, you decided to come here." He replied, hiding somewhere in my mind.
I sighed deeply and looked at my reflection in the mirror again. Even though I looked good on the outside, a gnawing longing was eating me up on the inside. I can't blame Neo for how he's behaving. We have been separated from Darius and Kane for over two months and have not been able to contact them. I couldn't even call him because there was no signal. Then my uncle started organizing this party and I didn't have heart to refuse them.
Don't get me wrong I have loved my time here. I have learned so much about elven culture and customs and the history of my family. I have also learned a lot about myself. I'm not much of a fighter but I'm naturally good at archery. I can't wait to show my skills to Darius and help defend our pack. I smiled. Tomorrow I will finally return home. I hope Darius is doing well.
"Are you ready?" A voice asked, startling me from my thoughts.
"Sorry didn't mean to startle! What are you thinking so focused?" My new friend asked.
Ascal. He was the elf my uncle tried to set me up with. He was two years older than me and very handsome. But no one will ever replace my mate and I made that clear to him right away as well as to my uncle. Ascal and I went to dinner and immediately got along well and have spent a lot of time together since then.
"Ah you know.." I answered with a smile and made sure that everything was in order for the party.
"Hmm yes, your hot mate." Ascal teased and I felt a blush rise up my neck.
"Shut up. Let's go." I said and walked out of my room. Ascal laughed at my embarrassment and followed me. He threw his arm around my shoulder and together we headed towards the ballroom.
"I will miss you." He said suddenly.
"I know. I'm going to miss you too. But hey you can always come visit the Moonlight pack. But today we're celebrating and having fun! We can leave our teary goodbyes until tomorrow." I answered and we arrived at a large ballroom full of guests.
We ate, drank, danced and socialized with the guests late into the night until fatigue won and I retreated to my room to sleep. I quickly took a shower and collapsed on the bed completely exhausted. I looked at the ceiling and smiled to myself.
"I'm coming home Darius." I whispered and let sleep come.
In the morning I woke up full of energy even though I didn't sleep that much. I quickly packed my things and hurried to breakfast. I want to leave as soon as possible.
"Good morning everyone." I said when I arrived in the dining room. The breakfast was attended by the royal family. That includes my uncle and aunt with their families.
"Good morning Fionn, you're in a happy mood." Rosette said with a smile.
"Yeah, I'm excited to start the journey back to my mate. I miss him." I answered, gathering food onto my plate.
"So you've really decided to go back." Calix said and I looked at him with a small smile on my face.
"I am. It's been my decision since before I came here, you know that."
"Yes, yes. At least the old man can hope." He replied with amusement.
"You're not that old. Besides you're always welcome to visit our pack and I'll definitely visit you too. You're part of my family but Darius.. Darius is my family. He's my soulmate." I said with a goofy smile on my face.
"Aaww you are so in love!" My younger cousin teased and I blushed. I do love him..
"Okay let the boy be. Let's eat and then get everything ready for Fionn's trip." Calix said and I was grateful how the subject changed.
I love Darius. I can't wait to tell him.
After breakfast I went back to my room and made sure everything was done for my journey, including my new bow that my uncle gave me. Everything ready. I looked at the clock and started to move to the yard where we had agreed to meet with everyone.
Everyone was already waiting for me. I don't like goodbyes, they're always so sad and this was no exception. Tears were not spared when I said goodbye to my aunt and cousins. Ascal tried to hold himself together but finally a tear escaped his eye.
"Promise I'll hear from you again. I know we haven't known each other for a long time but you've become really important to me." He said and hugged me.
"Of course! We need to find a better way to communicate since the phones don't work from here. Maybe we could write letters?" I asked.
"It could work." He smiled sadly. I quickly hugged him again and turned to my uncle who also looked sad.
"It's a shame you're leaving Fionn. Remember there's always a place for you here and we're here for you if you ever need it." He said keeping his voice strong.
I threw myself into his arms and hugged him tightly.
"I'm happy to have you guys in my life and thank you uncle for everything you've told me and taught me during my time here." I said to him.
Calix pushed me further and looked into my eyes. His eyes were moist and full of emotion.
"Your mother would be so proud of you Fionn, as I am." He whispered. A piece got stuck in my throat and I felt my lips trembling. I don't want to cry now. I took a deep breath and collected my feelings.
"Thank you." I whispered and picked up my backpack from the ground. I walked over to the elf who is escorting me and looked at everyone once more and smiled at them.
"Thank you, all of you. My time here has been amazing and I will definitely be seeing you again and as I said before each and every one of you is welcome to our pack. But it's time for me to go home."
"Let's go." I told my escort and we left the elf realm.
"Finally." Neo mumbled but I let him be.
Although my heart was heavy and my mind sad when I left my mother's childhood home, I was more than excited to be with my mate again. My return will be a surprise since we haven't been able to contact each other, I can't wait to see his reaction.
I'm coming Darius.
