Chapter 14

Darius pov

The four warriors lay on the ground breathless and slightly injured. I myself stood next to them and wiped the sweat from my face.

"Thanks everyone. Go home and rest." I told them and everyone bowed and left the place.

I looked up at the sky and took a deep breath. My body ached because of the fighting but I needed this. Fortunately Kane has also let me be alone.

I started walking back towards the garden and a slight anxiety hit as soon as I approached it. However, this time I was able to go straight there and was amazed at how much my mate got done here.

Speaking of my mate, he seemed to be deep in thought because he didn't notice me or hear me when I called him and of course he freaked out when I was next to him.

I was happy that he was enjoying himself in the garden, although it still evoked only sad thoughts and feelings in me. I was also more than happy for him because his wolf was back and I couldn't be angry with Kane anymore because he behaved like a puppy in my mind.

After preparing for the night we walked together towards the big hall where the meeting will be held.

"Is everything okay?" I asked my mate, although I noticed from his behavior that he was not tense or scared as if this was completely familiar to him.

Little one glanced at me. "Yes."

I didn't have time to analyze his short answer when we were already there. I just hope our good progress doesn't take a step back.

We got on stage and silence descended on the hall.

"Good evening everyone. Let's keep this meeting short so I'll get straight to the point. I've found my mate." I said in a strong voice and after a moment of silence the pack burst into shouts of joy and celebration.

"Silence please! I want to say that my mate has been through a lot, but it's not for me to say more about it. I want you to respect him and treat him well. If anyone has anything against this you can leave the pack right now." I continued and no one moved. I looked at my mate and smiled.

"Aww Darius that's so sweet!" Asher shouted from the front row and I growled at him. The bastard just laughed.

"Thank you Asher for reminding me that I also have a warning. If you are disrespectful to him there will be consequences and I view any ill actions towards my mate as a threat. Hurt my mate and it is a death sentence for you." I said seriously and Kane also revealed his presence. Everyone was silent.

A hand landed on my arm and I looked at my mate. His gaze reflected gratitude and trust.

"Hello everyone. I just wanted to say that yes I have my own issues to deal with before I'm ready to be Luna. I hope we can all get along and be kind to each other, the strength of the pack lies in its internal relationships. Strong togetherness a strong pack. Thank you for letting me be a part of your pack." Little one said and the pack erupted into another cheer.

I looked at my mate and was so damn proud of him.

"We both are." Kane replied, puffing out his chest proudly in my mind.

"That's all, thank you. Good night everyone." I said and directed my mate off the stage.

On the way to our room, many pack members stopped us so they could congratulate us and get a better look at my mate. I'm not used to long interactions with others and it was hard for me to keep myself from telling everyone to leave us alone.

Fortunately my mate seemed to understand my struggles and we left the situation politely.

"Why don't you like the company of others?" Little one asked as we continued walking.

"I don't know. When I lost my mother I was all alone, I grieved alone. When the grief turned to anger and I took it out on everyone who came near me. In the end I didn't deal with anyone unless it had to do with the pack. Asher and his father were the only ones who didn't care about my bad temper. I know the pack members respect me as an Alpha but I also know they are wary around me." I answered.

"Well we'll get to work on it." He grinned and it was the cutest thing I've ever seen.

"I'll consider it." I said and opened the door for him.

I was so damn tired but I still had to get us some dinner and since I'm going to meet the council tomorrow I have to make sure that Asher can deal with the pack while I'm away.

When we had eaten and taken care of the evening's activities, my mate buried himself under the blankets and I could sense that something was on his mind but I didn't pressure him to talk.

I myself went to the sofa where I have been sleeping since my mate came here. I will sleep with him when he wants me to.

"Good night Darius." My mate said in the dark and I smiled.

"Good night little one." I answered and closed my eyes.

"Fionn." I opened my eyes and looked towards the bed.

"What did you say?" I asked and after a short silence he answered clearly

"My name is Fionn."
