Fionn's pov
The last few days have been great. Darius and I have gotten to know each other better and Neo has been excited to spend time with his mate. My second form is now a part of me and I'm happy that my transformation was successful. It's like a weight is lifted off my shoulders and maybe I should dare to start living this new life of mine to the fullest. There is only one more dark cloud over us.
I sat on the sofa and watched my mate who was preparing for his task. Now he is the Alpha Darius that the rumors tell about. He is big, muscular and he looks deadly. Dressed in all black, he has styled his hair out of his face to show his scar better. The grim expression on his face only accentuated his deadly nature.
"Do you have to go?" I asked and he turned to look at me. All the coldness in his eyes disappeared and he looked at me gently.
"You know I have to. I couldn't live with myself if I don't finish this." He answered and walked over to me.
"I want you to stay close to the packhouse until I get back. You have a meeting with Leah and if you want you can help take care of the pups. I'll be back tomorrow morning at the latest." He said and played with my hair.
"Don't go.." I whispered quietly.
"Hey. Everything's fine, there's nothing stopping me from coming back to you. And when this is over I'll take you on a proper date. Okay?" He said and hugged me. I buried my head in his chest and let out a deep sigh. He won't change his mind.
"Be careful." I mumbled and he chuckled. How dare he! I pushed him and glared at him.
Darius raised his hands in the air.
"Sorry, sorry. But the thing is that those bastards are the ones who have to be careful. An angry Alpha is a dangerous Alpha." Darius said his eyes flashing.
"And I'm very angry." He growled and I felt how Kane was also present.
If he had been someone else I would have feared for my life, his is like a promise of death. But he is my mate and I don't think I could ever be afraid of him. My heart felt heavy with all the feelings I had for Darius, he truly is a light in my darkness.
I leaned towards him and kissed him gently. I heard his breath hitched before he returned the kiss. I felt tears burning my eyes.
"What's wrong Fionn?" Darius asked worriedly.
"I'm just thinking how lucky I am to have you in my life. I've been miserable, numb and broken for so long I didn't think I can feel anything anymore." I chuckled and looked at him through my tears.
"You've brought colors back into my life and I've felt so many good feelings since being with you and in this pack. I'm happy so I guess I just want to say thank you Darius for everything." I said and dried my eyes.
Darius pulled me back into a hug.
"I can say the same about you Fionn. Before you, I had no other purpose than to be the best possible Alpha for the pack that my mother loved. You bring out the traits in me that were buried somewhere really deep.." He made me look up and looked at me playfully.
"Even though you're turning me completely soft, I'm also happy now that I have you." He smiled.
We hugged until Darius had to leave. All the warriors setting out looked like they were ready to kill anyone who strayed in front of them. I shouldn't be surprised they are trained by my mate. Soon they were out of sight and I decided to go talk to Leah.
I like her. We had been talking for over an hour when she brought up the only thing I'm not going to talk about. My family.
"I did some research when I found out you were a member of the Red Claw Pack before your capture and I found out your last name is Sinclair? And you're the son of Amara and Sean?" Leah said questioningly. After my long silence she looked up from the papers.
"Fionn? Are you okay?" She asked worriedly.
Breathing was difficult, I felt like I was drowning. All the buried memories and feelings tried to surface again.
"Fionn-"
"NO!" I cut Neo off, he sounded like he was trying to get me to talk and I can't do it so I blocked him off in my mind. Breathe Fionn breathe and think about something else.
"- sorry. Fionn. Fionn?" I snapped out of my thoughts and looked at Leah breathlessly and wide-eyed until I realized my vulnerability. I built my walls back up and cleared my throat.
"I'm not going to talk about it. I want to stop for today."
Leah sighed. "I understand and of course we can finish early. I want to apologize if I went too far."
"It's okay Leah and I'm not going to stop seeing you." I assured her. I said a quick goodbye to Leah and hurried back home.
I dived into bed and buried my head in Darius's pillow. I inhaled his scent to calm myself down. I'll go and see later if I can help take care of the pups.
"Come back soon.." I whispered.
