Fionn's pov

I guess that was too much to ask.

It's been more than a month since Darius took revenge for me and at first everything was fine. We became closer both mentally and physically and I realized that I'm in love with him.

Darius took me on a date like he promised. I smiled at the memory.

Darius said embarrassedly that he has never been on a date before and he had researched all the clichéd date ideas until he had ended up on a picnic on top of a hill. We spent almost the whole day there until the sun went down and the starry sky came out. It was perfect. I loved it.

Everything changed after my sessions with Leah continued and I began to open up more. Sometimes I was completely broken when I returned to our apartment and cried about the unfairness of my life. Darius was always there for me, but at the same time something changed. He is often in a bad mood and he started disappearing and sneaksing out without me noticing. When I asked about it he just ignored it.

Maybe he's tired of my meltdowns and started dating someone else..

"Don't be stupid Fionn! Our mate doesn't want anyone else and has been good to us." Neo interrupted my depressing thoughts.

"I don't know Neo. Something's not right but I can't worry about it now. Let's go see if he wants to hang out with us."

I headed to Darius' office and knocked on the door.

"Come in little one." I opened the door with a shy smile on my face. Darius has not given up my nickname and it warms my heart.

"Hi. I just came to ask if you wanted to go for a walk with me?" I asked and Darius smiled.

"I always have time for you. Let's go right now." He answered and we went out together.

We walked and talked about everything that came to mind until Darius suddenly stopped and from his eyes I noticed that someone was talking to him through mindlink.

"Shit. I have to go, problems at our border. Please stay here and wait for me to come home." Darius kissed me and started running into the forest.

The first time I was mad at him, why didn't he take me with him? I should be the Luna of this pack. And in a strange way I feel drawn to the forest like I have to go there.

"Fionn don't. Obey our mate." Neo asked and I scoffed. No way.

"It's time for me to decide what to do. And I can't explain it but we have to go after him." I answered and started running in the same direction where Darius went. I followed his scent and the closer I got to the border, the louder the commotion got.

I slowed down when I got there. Many warriors in both human and wolf form had surrounded something large and the whole situation was chaotic. Darius was with Asher shouting orders to everyone. No one paid attention to me. They probably didn't even notice me.

What is it..

I climbed the nearest tree and gasped.

In the middle of the chaos a big white deer stood proudly, its body is protected by shiny scales like a dragon's. It had a bushy long tail and large horns with vines and those horns pointed menacingly at the werewolves.

"Kirin.." I whispered quietly.

What the hell is it doing here? Kirin is known as a protector of the elven forest and it is rare to find it in a normal forest. They have a gentle nature but they defend themselves when threatened and they don't trust anyone easily.

The warriors tried to get close to it but to no avail. I quickly climbed down and tried to get past the warriors.

"Hey! Stop it! You are scaring it!" I shouted but no one, not even Darius, still paid attention to me. Everything I said went over their ears so I forced my way past everyone.

Finally I ran right in front of Kirin.

"STOP IT!" I yelled and a strong gust of wind appeared out of nowhere and everyone but me and Kirin staggered back quite a bit. Now everyone noticed me.

"Luna!"

"Fionn get out of there now!" Darius shouted in alarm. I bared my teeth at him and growled.

"Shut up and stay away! All of you!" Darius looked at me with wide eyes, probably shocked by my aggressive behavior but I don't care right now.

I turned to look at Kirin and it looked at me completely calm. I've never seen a living Kirin. I diligently tried to remember the language of the elf and reached out for it. There was a threatening growl behind me that stopped as soon as I glared at him.

"Hey beautiful girl. It's okay I'm a friend." I told quietly and Kirin continued to stare at me.

"You are far from home, let me help you. You can sense that I have elf blood in me. I make sure no one will hurt you."

Slowly it lowered its muzzle against my hand and closed its eyes. I raised my other hand and stroked its head. Finally I cautiously moved close to it and hugged it. Its scales were warm and the scent of the forest brought tears to my eyes. Like I got a piece of home back.

I cleared my throat and looked into Kirin's eyes.

"Kirin is a mystical creature that is known in the elven forests and is not a danger to anyone. I'm going to take her with me." I told everyone without looking at them.

"Come on, let's go home." I said and together we walked past everyone without paying them much attention.
