Darius pov
The trip home took forever. As soon as Asher stopped the car I rushed out and towards the pack hospital with my mate in my arms. Asher and Hazel followed me and we got puzzled looks from the pack members. Everyone knew that we were supposed to stay at least overnight.
"Call the doctor immediately! It's about my mate!" I demanded as soon as I got inside. Yes, I could have used mindlink but I didn't know which doctors were on duty.
The nurses rushed to us and reluctantly I laid my mate on the bed. I could hear shocked gasps and some of the nurses let the tears flow freely. Everyone was shocked at my mate's condition. He is their Luna after all.
"Alpha." The doctor bowed and looked at my unconscious mate and asked "can you tell me anything about him?"
"Idiot! Isn't his vision working or what else does he want to know!?" Kane raged but I ignored him.
"He's malnourished and abused for a long time. I don't know anything else. He passed out shortly after I found him." I answered.
The doctor thought for a moment and glanced at Asher and then looked at me nervously.
"Okay. Alpha I would ask you to leave while we investigate-"
"I'm not fucking going anywhere." I cut him off and crossed my arms.
"Alpha with all due respect the nurses can't work if you're around, you can be pretty scary and we all know how protective Alphas are of their mates." He said carefully but professionally.
I growled and was about to shout at him but Asher came to stand in front of me.
"You know he's right Darius. We'll be waiting right outside the door, nothing's going to happen to him." Asher said looking me in the eyes.
I was angry, desperate and sad but I knew they were right.
"Fine! Find out what's been done to him and I want only the best treatment for him. Remember if you hurt him in any way I'll wring your neck." I said dead serious and glared at the doctor.
"Y-yes Alpha of course." He answered and started preparing my mate who was still lying on the bed.
If his chest wasn't moving you'd think he was dead. My gaze focused on his neck, I need to get out before I lose my temper here. I turned and walked to the door but before I left the room I said over my shoulder.
"And get that fucking thing off his neck."
I left the room and tried to be calm even though I really wanted to destroy everything I got my hands on.
"Let's go back! I want Alpha Gregor to suffer! I'm going to slowly tear him apart and let the rogues eat what's left of him!" Kane was furious and I couldn't help but agree with him.
"Don't worry, I'll make sure he suffers. He'll regret ever touching our mate! But first we need to focus on our mate." I replied to him and closed the link. Kane's aggressiveness doesn't help me stay calm.
I leaned against the wall and closed my eyes. I'm lucky everyone knows to stay away from me.
I opened my eyes when I heard the hospital doors open. Victoria rushed over to Asher and they hugged each other. I want that too.
It was clear that Asher was telling her what had happened as Victoria cast a brief glance in my direction before focusing on Asher again. Judging by her expression Asher also told about Tara, but after a long explanation everything was fine with the couple and they sat next to each other on the bench. Victoria also tried to talk to Hazel but she remained distant.
I concentrated on staring at the floor and waiting for news about my mate.
Two and a half hours later, the doctor left the room where my mate was and asked me to visit his office.
"Alpha, we investigated your mate's situation and cleaned him. We did some tests and found out that he is a hybrid, half elf and half werewolf. Unfortunately we were not able to specify the situation of his wolf yet, but based on the healing his wolf is either really weak or dead.." The doctor said.
Kane whined in my mind. I was almost startled by the voice because he has never shown any signs of weakness.
"As you already said, your mate is really malnourished so we need to carefully plan his diet until he starts to recover. In addition, we found a worrying number of old and new injuries that point to long-term abuse. The injuries will heal with time but unfortunately some will remain scars. Especially on his back the wounds are so deep and poorly treated that scarring is inevitable. Do you need a break Alpha?" The doctor asked worriedly.
Only then did I notice that I was shaking and my breathing was quick. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.
"No, just tell me everything at once." I replied, trying to keep my anger in check.
The doctor cleared his throat and continued.
"Okay, so the injuries on the back side seem to have come from some kind of whip and without the wolf the healing has not been successful. It would seem that the collar around the neck has cut off the connection between him and his wolf. There would be one more thing.." He said and looked scared.
"What is it? Tell me!" I'm already at the breaking point and this idiot is wasting my time.
"A-Alpha, we noticed in the investigations that your mate has also had to experience sexual violence. Not recently but so much that the damage was noticeable in the investigations. I'm sorry." The doctor hurriedly explained and bowed.
My mind went blank. Kane was silent. I need to get out of here.
"Thank you doctor. I want my mate in my room. I don't care how you do it but he's going to stay there. Have Asher come with you. I'll be back as soon as I can." I said and left before he could answer.
"How is he?" Hazel asked as soon as I got out of the room.
I ignored her and continued on my way out.
"Darius-"
"NOT NOW!" I yelled and Asher closed his mouth and nodded. I rushed out and as soon as I got out I transformed, Kane took over and started running into the forest.
We didn't go rogue hunting, Kane just ran until he couldn't anymore. Kane collapsed to the ground breathing heavily. Our soul ached for our mate. Only Goddess can help those who are responsible for this.
I'm going to kill them all.
