Fionn's pov
It's like I haven't slept all night. I feel anxious and sad when I looked at my sleeping mate. It feels like my heart is about to split in two when I think about being apart from Darius. He has changed my life so much. Damn he gave me my life back. But I know that if I don't go with my aunt now, I don't know if I'll be able to go later.
"Couldn't we bring a mate with us?" Neo asked whining. He doesn't like at all that I decided to leave but I have to do this for myself.
"You know it won't work Neo. The pack needs him. And we won't be gone forever." I tried to comfort him but he retreated somewhere in my mind, clearly upset. I let out a deep sigh and focused on Darius again.
I'm happy with how much he has opened up during these months. He is less intimidating and has interacted more with the pack members. He will become a better and stronger leader than before. He should still talk to Leah about his childhood traumas.
I hummed and smiled sadly. In a certain way we are quite similar, we are both broken in our own way. Maybe the Moon Goddess created us for each other so we can heal together, who knows.
I stroked his hair and enjoyed the softness of it. I ran my hand along his face admiring his features. Slowly his eyes opened and we just looked at each other.
His eyes are beautiful. Although he is blind in one eye in my opinion it makes him look more unique.
"What are you doing up this early?" Darius asked sounding tired.
"I couldn't sleep anymore. Maybe I'm a little nervous about my trip.."
"Come here little one." Darius said and opened his arms. I laid my head on his chest and listened to his heartbeat and it lulled me back to sleep by the steady rhythm.
When we woke up again later we spent the morning as usual until it was time for me to leave. I stood in front of Darius and tried not to cry.
"I'm going to miss you. I don't know how long I'll be gone but I'll be back." I told him with a trembling voice.
"Don't be so sad. This is your family and you have a chance to get to know them again. I'm here waiting for you." He replied and kissed my forehead. I couldn't read any emotion on his face but I knew how hard this was for him.
I kissed him and felt a tear escape the corner of my eye.
"I will come back." I whispered and moved to my aunt and the other elves, Kirin will also go back home with us.
"My warriors will escort you to the border. You better take care of my mate and make sure nothing happens to him or I will find each one of you and make you suffer." Darius said seriously and as if my tender Darius no longer existed. A shiver ran through me as I looked at him, he is now the well known Alpha Darius. I hope he'll be fine while I'm gone..
"Don't worry Alpha Darius. I will protect my sister's son with my life and when we get to the kingdom's territory he is part of the royal family so everyone will protect him." Rosette answered him and after a final goodbye we began our journey towards the elven realm.
----
We have been traveling for several days and according to my aunt we will be there soon. Neo is angry and sad about my decision to leave and hasn't said anything to me. It makes me sad but I know he just needs time.
"We have arrived." Rosette said and I looked around in a daze and all I saw was the same forest as before. I know that the realms of the elves are hidden but I thought I would see at least some hint of the location of the realm.
Rosette giggled and placed her hand against the large tree. The air began to vibrate around the tree and soon a corridor appeared next to it. I stared at my aunt in wonder and she smiled.
"Don't look so surprised Fionn. Elves, especially the elders have a lot of magic. Even though we are nature elves, we have enough magic to create protection around our kingdom as if it were a parallel world. We like to keep to ourselves and rarely encounter enemies."
We walked down the corridor and it was as if we had entered a completely different world. And that's what we actually did. All around us were plants that one could only imagine in their mind. In the distance, you could see how various experimental huts had been built among the treetops. I gazed in wonder at the kingdom of the elves until we arrived at the royal castle.
The castle was stunning. We walked along the big corridors but I didn't focus on where we were going because I was so focused on admiring the castle's architecture and interior.
"Look Fionn." Rosette said gently and I looked in the direction she was pointing.
There was a large portrait of my mother on the wall. Neo woke up in my mind and looked at our mother through my eyes.
"I miss them so much." I whispered to Neo.
"So do I." He replied equally sad.
"She was beautiful wasn't she?" A strong voice was heard from behind us and I quickly turned around. I recognized the person and bowed my head to him.
In front of me stood the ruler of the nature elves. Even though Calix is tall and slender, he exudes the strength typical of leaders. His long white hair was partially braided and finally a large but subtle crown revealed his status.
"Don't bow down to me. You're my sister's child so you're my family. It's so good to have you here we thought you were dead. You have a lot of the same traits as Amara it's like we got a piece of her back. I hope you stay with us for a long time." Calix said and Rosette answered before me.
"Don't get too excited my brother. He has a werewolf mate, Alpha Darius."
My uncle groaned
"Of course he has. First Amara and now my nephew. But I don't see a mark on your neck maybe we can turn your head and you can find an elf that suits you." Calix said jokingly but I sensed he was partly serious.
"NO! I swear Fionn I will take control the second you even consider it!" Neo raged in mind.
"Calm down Neo. I would never do that. My heart belongs and always will belong to our mate."
I looked at my uncle and smiled.
"Thank you for your hospitality uncle. It's true that I don't have my mate's mark and that has its own reasons, but that doesn't make our bond any weaker. My mate saved me in many different ways, my heart and loyalty belong to him." I answered and looked him in the eyes. At first I thought I had offended him until a big smile appeared on his face and he burst out laughing.
"You're just like your mother! Okay let's go and I'll show you where you'll be staying during your visit." He answered and we continued our journey.
I quickly looked back and smiled at my mother's picture.
I love you mom.
