Chapter 17

3rd person's pov

The next morning Darius and Fionn spent a lot of time cleaning up the mess Kane made, while Darius told about the events of yesterday's meeting.

Fionn felt uncomfortable as he thought that Darius had confronted one of his abusers. He also found out about the man's fate. The information made him feel relieved but at the same time he just wanted the violence to stop.

Darius also talked about Kane's behavior towards Asher and how he needs to talk with him. Fionn wasn't happy with Kane's behavior and it leads us to a situation where the scolded Alpha walks sulkingly with his mate towards Asher's room.

The Alpha's glowing eyes revealed that Kane was in control.

"This is blackmailing." Kane mumbled in a low voice.

"It's not. You get to spend time with Neo after you've apologized to poor Asher. I think that's bribery." Fionn said and grinned.

"I'm the Alpha! I don't need to apologize to anyone." Kane growled.

"So you don't want to meet Neo?" Fionn asked innocently.

"Argh! You're a mean mate. Fine I will apologize." Kane said admitting defeat. He really wants to meet his mate.

Fionn smiled and gave Alpha a quick kiss on the cheek. "A good Alpha knows when he has done wrong and knows when to apologize." When they got there Fionn knocked on Asher's door and waited until the Beta opened the door.

"Good morning Asher!" Fionn greeted happily.

"Good morning gyus- Oh Kane.. How can I help you?" Asher said a little nervously and bowed. Last night's encounter reminded him again how aggressive an Alpha wolf can be.

Fionn looked at the nervous Asher and then glared at his mate. He elbowed the Alpha in the side and pointed at Asher with his head. Kane cleared his throat and straightened his posture.

"I want to apologize for my behavior, yesterday was a bad day for us." Kane said and Asher was shocked. He has rarely heard Kane's voice from his cousin's human form and he has never heard him apologize for anything. Asher glanced at the grinning Fionn and he too had to smile. So Luna is behind this.

"I appreciate it, thank you Alpha Kane." Asher replied and bowed to his Alpha. This must be hard for him he thought to himself.

"Good! That's settled. I'll go make us something to eat and then you can meet Neo. Now can I have Darius back please?" Fionn asked and Asher was amazed at how much he had progressed with his withdrawal and how well he was handling the Alpha.

Kane hummed and handed control back to Darius.

"That went well. Just go ahead I'll be right behind. I'll just quickly go over my plans for the Red Claw Pack with Asher." Darius said because he knew his mate didn't want to know what he was going to do.

Fionn nodded and started heading towards the kitchen. His journey was interrupted in the corridor when a few members of the pack blocked the way.

"Excuse me, could I pass?" He asked politely. His heart stopped for a moment as a familiar face turned to look at him.

"Isn't that our so called Luna." The redhead said mockingly.

"Brianna! Watch your words, he's Alpha's mate." One of the females warned and for good reason, no one felt the presence of the dangerous Alpha around the corner as he had hidden his scent to see what Brianna was up to.

Brianna scoffed.

"Oh, I know who he is and he is nothing more than a mere slave who doesn't deserve Darius and because of him my cousin Tara lost her mate!" Brianna raised her voice and came closer to Fionn who was staring blankly at her.

However under his expressionless shell, Fionn seemed to be lost in the shadows of his past. This young female along with her cousin caused one of his worst punishments when he was younger.

"Do you know him?" One of Brianna's friends asked.

"Yes. He's from the Red Claw pack." Brianna giggled.

"And we had a lot of fun once, didn't we slave?" Brianna mocked Fionn. The other members tried to get Brianna to stop bullying their Luna but to no avail. Brianna turned to the others and began to tell what she had done.

"This pathetic creature has been imprisoned in my cousin's pack for years. Once we decided to have fun with him. Tara and I went into the basement like we didn't know what was in there. He prayed for help and we helped him. He just didn't know that we had asked Alpha Gregor for permission to set him free and it was quite a surprise when Alpha Gregor was waiting for him at the door." Brianna laughed and the others were shocked. How evil is this girl.

They looked at Fionn who was just listening calmly but his eyes showed how much he was hurting.

"Brianna stop it." Others tried again.

"And why should I?" Brianna answered back. No one had time to answer when Alpha Darius appeared from around the corner and lifted the female into the air holding her neck.

"Didn't I say that if my mate is not respected there will be a punishment!?" Darius growled at Brianna who tried to loosen Alpha's grip. Everyone was horrified they knew Brianna had gone too far.

Darius felt a grip on his arm and found Fionn looking at him pleadingly.

"Let go Darius. This is not necessary. Please." Fionn spoke calmly and to everyone's surprise Darius listened to his mate and dropped Brianna on the floor.

Fionn smiled at his mate and crouched down to help the female.

"Can't we put the past behind us? I'm tired of all the unnecessary violence?" Fionn asked.

Brianna felt humiliated and angry, so blinded by her rage she tried to attack Fionn.

Darius stepped in front of his mate and snapped the female's neck. He turned to see his mate who looked startled.

"I promised the death sentence to anyone who hurts you and I'm going to keep it."

Fionn nodded and buried his face against Darius' chest. Darius mindlinked the warriors to retrieve Brianna's body and have her family come to his office immediately.

"Go home. The warriors will take care of things here." Darius said and everyone hurried out of the place.

"I'm sorry about this little one but I'll do everything I can to protect you. We have to move our plans a bit, I have to finish this."

Fionn looked at his mate and he did understand why Darius killed Brianna, he just didn't like the violence.

"Okay. See you later." Fionn replied and they both went their separate ways.
