Laughing Jack x Male!reader

CH. 48

You'd be lying if you said Jack's little letter confession-apology thing wasn't cute. (y/s) was knocked asleep in their room after taking some medicine and you were laying around in yours, still staring at the piece of paper your sibling had given you in Jack's name.

Re-reading every word again and again its contents causes your heart to flutter. You were never the attractive one amongst your peers, sure you were charming at times and stuff but no one had ever given you something this sweet.

You were never anyone's special person, sure it's not like you minded it at the time but looking back the constant reminders of it did sting a little.. But no more dwelling on the past now. Jack thinks of you as special and that's enough to send you into a blushing frenzy again as you giggled to yourself like a schoolgirl.

The evening slowly turned into the afternoon and as it got dark your mom came home, greeting you both with big hugs. She talked with (y/s) about their day as you'd help her make dinner and when it got late she put the little gremlin to bed, of course you had to be there to read (y/s) their daily bedtime story and as you both quietly left their room your mom turned to you.

"Tomorrow I'll be working a little later than usual, could you go to the store instead of me? The shopping list should be on the fridge" She whispered to you. "Yeah I can do that, do I just leave (y/s) alone though? Feels kinda wrong." You shrugged with a chuckle as you both walked down the hallway so you didn't have to whisper anymore and risk your sibling waking up.

"As long as they get their medicine and you dress them appropriately for the weather I think you could still take them along with you, you can take my car, i can just ask my co worker to pick me up on her way to work." She chuckled along with you before a yawn escaped her lips.

"You were of great help today, thank you (Y/N)" She said gratefully, giving you one last tight hug before bidding you goodnight and retiring off to her own room as you did the same. As you walked in though, you weren't expecting the big man himself, Jack, to be waiting for you patiently.

"Hi!" He exclaimed happily, getting up from his sitting position on the floor as he carefully lifted his head, mindful to not accidentally slam into the ceiling like the first time you both met.

"Hey Jack, what's that..?" You humm before averting your gaze to a decently sized rectangular box that he was holding in his grasp.

"Oh- It's a puzzle! I thought you could help me complete it? (y/s) didn't want to." He huffed, his body nearly deflating as he handed the box to you. It seemed like a particularly difficult puzzle, having 1000 puzzle pieces.

"I mean Jack.. Duh (y/s) didn't wanna do it with you, this puzzle's got 1000 pieces, that is way too difficult for them" You let out an airy giggle, setting the box in the middle of your room's floor and opening it, letting all of the parts spill out. "But! Since I'm such a good friend, I'll complete it with you."

He grinned happily, plopping himself down in front of you as he turned his gaze downwards, seemingly already looking for pieces he could put together.
