------------------------------------------------

After your decently smooth reunion with Jack you returned to the spot where you'd left the kid, finding them still deep asleep and well a sigh of relief left your body.

"You both seem tired, how about a quick rest?" Jack piped up from behind, already reaching over you to scoop up the kid in his lanky arms, making the young boy squirm a bit until his breath steadied into a calm rhythm again.

"Actually.. yeah, that sounds great. Sleeping behind crates wasn't the most comfortable of choices.."

"I can imagine." He chuckled, motioning for you to follow as he returned to the illuminated path, bustling with kids and clowns alike yet Jack seemed to stick out like a sore thumb. The area was colorful, bright and cheerfully innocent- everything you doubted the monochromatic being was capable of.

"What're you even doing with this kid?" He hummed, one of his free hands coming behind you so you wouldn't lose each other in the dense crowds of folk.

His hands only hovered, never really making contact with your back yet you'd still feel the warm presence of the hand nearby, his question caused you to respond, going on a long rant about how you'd gotten here all panicked, later finding the crying boy that convinced you to go help him find his, also lost, friends.

"I see.." Was Jack's only response as he stopped dead on his tracks when the path you were walking on split into two directions.

"You go ahead, there should be this pretty big tent down that way" He pointed to the right path that stretched between different gift or food stands and fairylight decorative light poles. You turned back to him with a quirked eyebrow, your suspicions raised as you questioned him, "What about the kid? Where are you going?"

"Calm down man, we have a 'daycare' area here per se.. well everyone here are children but you get what I mean, im taking him there." He shrugged, chuckling at your suspicion of him, though.. he understood why.

With a defeated and exhausted sigh you reluctantly agreed, going in the direction he'd pointed you in.

Your legs ached as you finally dragged yourself to a decently secluded area where a carnival tent seemed to be set up, it wasn't too far from the others yet it was enough privacy the regular person would need or want.

Entering you weren't sure what to even expect, the decor inside was minimal, but then again.. Jack didn't seem like the type to enjoy decorating all that much. Everything in here had a slight grayish tint.

This tent seemed to hold a different shape on the inside, almost as if it was some sort of illusion- whatever, you didn't feel like busting your last brain cells to try and clock the logistics of this stupid magical carnival you were stuck in.

Dragging yourself over to the bed you were shocked when the blankets nearly swallowed you, their texture plush to the touch as you lost balance, falling down, not that you minded. It was comfortable, yet as you were slipping into an unconscious state your phone's ringtone startled you.

Flipping onto your back you fished the ringing device from your pocket, holding it to your ear as you answered with a tired 'hello?'.

"(y/n)?! Oh thank god man.. I called like twice and you didn't answer, I got so worried man!" Eliots voice came from the other side, sounding almost relieved when you had spoken up.
