Jahnavi sat in Latin class pondering about what substantive meant as the teacher taught them about substantive adjectives. Maniacally giggling with her friend, Evangeline, Jahnavi thought about Lee Know and many other concerning events, including Merrick in the last history class–well...we don't talk about that. Evangeline danced with her Lee Know style and the class went through all the prayers, including the Lord's Prayer in Latin.
Suddenly, an intruder stormed into the room, barking while the poor teacher was peacefully but nervously chanting the Lord's Prayer. Baxter, who didn't know that class had started, scornfully shook his head.
After the quick prayer, the whole class burst out with annoying statements...except for the teacher. She was trying to calm the class down but was again stopped by the roaring voices of the boys, especially Jonas, who pretended that he had not been one of the victims who were late to class. Wisely putting their names on the whiteboard, the girls thought in their minds how dumb and foolish the boys were for being late.
BAM BAM. Gunshots were heard from outside the classroom, and Jahnavi, jumping up from her seat, rushed to the window. Awed and horrified, she stared outside and saw the impossible. Thieves were swarming around the blacktop, and to make matters worse—there were two hundred of them. No later than two milliseconds, she rapidly said, with fear in her voice, what she had seen. Everyone laughed at first and went to see for themselves. Then their eyes panicked with fear.
What do we do? was the frantic thought that went through everybody's heads when, much too early, two of the thieves marched in.
