Chapter 8: On edge

Coles pov

Lexi has been staying round my house for the past few days. The morning after we found her in the woods she refused to get out of bed she wouldn't eat she barely said a single word to me or Leah. The day after that tho she was up and about acting normal but I can tell she's on edge she keeps constantly checking if the door is locked and the windows are shut she spent the whole day staring outside the window almost as if she's waiting for him to turn up. Leah has been staying here to be with Lexi as well she's helped a lot. Lexi hasn't gone to training Leah said that she had the flu or something like that but Lexi has a game tomorrow against Aston Villa and I'm going to try make her go to it I know it will help her take her mind off things and stop constantly being on edge. I just need to speak to Leah to help me convince Lexi to go to it.

I walk into the living room to ask Leah for a word Lexi is sat looking out the window that's all she seems to do since she's been here. Leah could I have a word with you a second I say sending her a smile.

Ye I'll be back in a minute Leah says to Lex giving her a kiss on the cheek before she leaves this makes me smile.

Is everything alright Leah says

Ye I was just thinking about the game against villa tomorrow I think we should convince Lexi to go it would take her mind off of things and it would be good to get her out of the house doing something she enjoys I say.

Ye I agree we will talk to her about it later see what she says Leah says with a smile.

Will you be ok with Lex for a bit I'm just going to pop round her house pick up some of her things that she's going to need I say to Leah.

Ye we will be fine Leah says.

I make my way into the living room to tell Lex I'm just going to pop round hers for a bit I don't want her to worry.

Lex I'm just going to go round your house and pick up some spare clothes and some things you might need I say.

What no you can't go there he could be there waiting no your not going Cole.

Lexi I will be fine I promise I'll be half and hour max ok don't worry.

No I'm going with you then you're not going on your own.

I will let you come with me on one condition I say

And what might that be Lex says

You have to go to the game against villa tomorrow I say.

What that's not fair Cole ur blackmailing me Lex says.

Guess I'm going on my own then I go to walk out the living room door wait wait for fuck sake Cole fine I'll go to the game just let me come with you Lex says.

Right come on then get ur arse in the car I say we are walking out the door when Lex freezes I take her hand and give her a smile to let her know it's ok and she is safe she takes my hand and we walk to the car Lex keeps looking round scanning the whole area trying to find him it breaks my heart that she's constantly on edge and is this scared of her own father.

We make the journey to Lexi's house I gave her the option to stay in the car but she insisted that she isn't going to leave my side incase he's here somewhere. I take her hand again and we walk inside she follows me around the whole house not letting go of my hand once. Every time we would walk into a room with the door closed she would grip onto my hand tighter I think my hands gone blue from how hard she's squeezing it. After about 10 minutes I get all the things that Lex would need as I'm about to walk out back to the car I spot a peace of paper on the counter I let go of Lexis hand to go see what it is she instantly takes hold of my hand again. It's ok Lex he's not here I'm just going to be 2 seconds ok I'm going to grab a water from the fridge it that ok I say. She nods and I quickly run into the kitchen grabbing the piece of paper and a water. I make my way back over to Lexi grab her hand and we head back to my house.
