Track 7: Dirt Drop

INGAY ng crowds ang sumalubong sa amin pagpasok sa Tarlac Race Circuit kung saan gaganapin ang elimination round para mapabilang sa napipintong national tournament sa mundo ng karera.

Tarlac Circuit Hill (TCH) is a 1.500 km permanent circuit located within the Tarlac Recreational Park in San Jose, Tarlac, Philippines and is approximately 142 km away from Manila. The full course has 15 turns and runs in a clockwise direction.

It was built as an initiative of the Tarlac City Government and Governor Victor Yap. 2003 Asian Formula 3 champion Pepon Marave designed the circuit and acts as its Technical Consultant. Meanwhile, former Philippine Karter of the Year Richard Joson is its Marketing and Operations Consultant. The circuit officially opened on the 21st of November 2016.

Kaliwa't-kanan rin ang mga reporters na nakikita ko at ilan sa mga ito ay nagkakaroon ng one-on-one interview sa mga international racers na kasali ngayong gabi.

I silently cracking my fingers while looking around. Warren, Melvin, Duke, Sytry, and Astaroth are busy fixing our cars we will use later.

Kasama ko sa laban mamaya si Griffin at Ruax. Si Thud at Fourth naman ang magiging mata namin sa loob ng race.

"Okay guys, listen up." Napalingon ako kay Thud nang magsalita ito at sumensyas na lumapit kami sa kanya.

"Since this is the first time that Iori entered into a real competition, Ruax and Griffin will guide you all the way Iori." Thud said while looking at me.

Si Ruax at Griffin ang magbibigay ng daan sa akin habang nasa loob kami ng karera na agad kong sinang-ayonan dahil sila ang mas may alam sa mundong ito kaysa sa akin na baguhan pa lamang.

"You can do some tricks or something you want to do but all we have here is to get the first place, got it?"

Sabay-sabay kaming tumango.

Thud place his hands in front of us followed by Warren, Duke and the others. I lift my eyebrows when they are looking at me.

"We're waiting Iori?" Alanganing sambit ni Ruax.

I let out a deep sigh as I placed my hands on top it. Nagulat na lang ako ng sabay-sabay silang sumigaw.

"RDM? Speed Engines!"

Naiwan ako tulala nang isa-isa silang bumalik sa kanilang ginagawa. I did not expect such kind of chants.

Bumalik na lang ako sa pwesto ko at muling pinatunog ang mga daliri ko habang naghihintay sa oras nang pagsabak namin sa kompetisyon.

Nakita ko rin ang ilang kalalakihan na nang-insulto sa amin kanina at parang nandidiri sila na makita kami sa loob ng track.

Akala mo naman kung sinong mga magagaling? Tiklop naman kapag pinapatulan.

"Nervous?" Lumapit si Ruax sa pwesto ko at tumabi sa akin.

We were both wearing the same RDM Jerseys - a black sweat shirt, fitted jeans and a leather jacker with RDM logo.

"I don't know. This is the first time I entered a competition."

"I thought you always had a race before you get here?"

"Yeah, but that's all illegal. I don't what would be I faced inside the track as I step out from our tent."

Hindi ko naman tinatakot ang sarili ko sa posibleng mangyari but all of the people around me are all professionals when it comes to handling the steering wheel.
