Riley POV:
The next week I flew down to North Carolina to finally have my official practice with the team now that my arm was fully healed. I wish that Harper could've come with me but she has her Spanish final this week and as she says she needs spanish to flirt with all the hot spanish soccer players.
I shook my head with a smile at the memory of our conversation. This time I was getting to stay in the soccer house. However since the seniors hadn't graduated yet, there weren't any spare rooms so I was sleeping on an air mattress in the room that Jamie shared with our teammate Bailey.
I finished putting on my soccer stuff before grabbing my bag and running down the stairs. After a couple minutes, the entire team was gathered in the entry way and we all walked to the fields together.
Coach Preston was very excited to have me back. "Riley!" He yelled as he pulled me into a hug and patted me on the back. "We're so glad that you are healed and back to practice with us."
"So am I coach." I said with a smile.
We started off with basic stretching drills before moving on to footwork. There was an intricate spread of cones across the turf. For a grueling half hour we did a variety of skill moves around the cones. By the time Coach Preston decided to give us a water break, everyone was exhausted. We all sat or laid down on the turf as we drank our waters.
"Why is there so much cardio? You guys didn't do nearly this much conditioning last time I came down." I said confused.
"Seriously! It's the end of the season!" Jamie groaned as she plopped down on her back on the turf.
"It's because you're here Sader. Now that you are fully healed coach wants to make sure that you are ready for college soccer. But mostly he wants to make sure that we can keep up with you." Emily explained before taking a swig from her water.
"Why would he want to make sure that you guys can keep up with me? Shouldn't it be the other way around?" I asked confused.
"Yes but last time you were here you kicked our best player's ass." Hadley said as she walked into the conversation. Emily glared at her. "She did not kick my ass." Emily argued.
"Yes she did!" Half the team said in unison.
Emily just shook her head and tossed her water on the ground. I would think that she was annoyed if you couldn't tell that she was trying to hide the smile on her face. From across the field coach blew his whistle.
"Come one girls! It's scrimmage time!" He yelled.
Everyone tossed their waters to the side and ran over to coach. The tiredness from conditioning was forgotten and replaced by excitement to scrimmage. We lined up on the mid field line and coach split us into two teams.
I was on a team with both Jamie and Hadley. Emily was on the other team. She had a mischievous glint in her eye. You could tell that she was ready to get even for the last time that we went up against each other.
"Hey Riley you're on Emily." Hadley said with a smirk.
"You set this up didn't you?" I asked with a smile. Hadley just shrugged her shoulders with a smirk that confirmed my suspicions. After coach blew his whistle, the scrimmage was on. Emily ran up the field and was lined up right next to me.
"You aren't afraid of a little competition, are you Sader?" Emily teased trying to get in my head like I had done to her last time we went up against each other. "You know I'm not. If you remember correctly, the last time I was here I one vs oned the captain and won. So maybe it's you who should be afraid of a little competition." I said, throwing her own words right back at her.
