Diana is sixteen when she hears rumours around town about a new family moving to forks. She hears that the father is some fancy doctor and had requested to work at the hospital due to his wife wanting to settle down somewhere quiet. Other than that she doesn't hear much about the family, implying there isn't anything out of the ordinary about them but her dreams tell her a different story.

Images flash through her mind, far too fast and far too many for her to be able to decipher what they could possibly mean. All that she really remembers is their yellow eyes that seem to bear into her soul. The slayer doesn't know what they could be, as despite their yellow eyes she sees them out in the daytime- which is impossible for the vampires that she has come across. However she doesn't completely rule that thought out, this isn't her world so any number of things could be different within it. For now, she holds off the thought of killing them- not wanting to ruin the life she has right now by making the new family in town disappear. The slayer decides to keep a close eye on them and if they as soon as much as threaten a human then she'll intervene.

Protecting the innocent has never really been much of a selling point to her as a slayer, but that doesn't mean she is completely heartless. The girl just hates the idea of having the heroic persona that most did, that didn't mean she wants anyone to die. This also doesn't mean she is completely against killing those that deserve it- like her father. Slayers aren't meant to fight against the forces of darkness and evil comes in all forms, not just demons. Not many had agreed with her on this, even fewer of them verbally confirming as such. Rupert Giles, one of the watchers, on the other hand had fully supported her views- only advising her to be cautious about acting on these thoughts.

On the first day back to school after the summer, Diana's senses are on high alert as she walks into the school car park. Charlie had offered to buy her a second hand car from Billy for her sixteenth but she had refused as she enjoys the fresh air she gets from her walks. Her eyes immediately settle on the two unfamiliar cars parked at the far end of the car of the tarmac. Five people are stood in between them, chatting with each other quietly.

It seems like it isn't only her who had clocked onto them as most of the school is staring at the beautiful family, who seem to take no notice of their whispers and curious glances. Diana walks past them unnoticed, allowing her to sigh in relief as they don't seem to be able to tell what she is- which will surely give her the element of surprise if she needs it.

Her first lesson is Spanish, one of her favourites. She had always been particularly talented when learning to speak any of the romantic languages as she had picked up a fair amount of Latin during her lessons when she had first moved into headquarters. Diana relaxes into her seat as the rest of the students enter the room but she immediately tenses up when one of the new students strolls in just before the first bell.

The boy's eyes are just as golden as she had seen in her vision, if not more so. His skin is pale, far paler than her own, being comparable to a sheet of paper rather than a skin tone and doesn't have a single blemish. His frame is massive, towering over every other student in the class as he marches to the back of the classroom and sitting down next to Diana- which is just her luck. She had been planning to keep an eye on them from a distance, preferably never even interacting with them, but this would make it practically impossible.

The creature, which is what Diana had taken to calling the new family, gives her a friendly smile but her gut is screaming at her. He's a predator, there is certainly no mistaking that. "I'm Emmet." The boy says. At full height he looks to be around 6'5, which is impressive in itself without the addition of his large muscles.

Still, this doesn't intimidate the slayer. She has fought much bigger enemies in the past, they didn't scare her then and he certainly doesn't scare her now. However she is curious to how strong these creatures are. "Diana." She responds dryly.
