"Good, you made it." Esme says as her and the Cullens enter their garage. They look a little roughed up to say the least but Diana doubts they had actually killed the two other vampires. She honestly wonders if they have the will to kill anything more sentient than the woodland creatures they feed on when they get a bit peckish.
Edward races over to Bella and pulls his girlfriend into a tight hug. He takes a sharp inhale as he breaths in her scent, welcoming the burning of his throat as he does so, only to pull away when he notices the state his car is in. "What have you done?" He opens and closes his mouth in shock. The boy isn't all that much of a car person, but it's hard to believe that someone could actually rough up a car so much without actually crashing it. It looks like it would falls to pieces if he so much as looks at it for too long.
"Yeah... I can't drive." Diana tells him with a laugh. She chucks him his key- which is the only part of his car that isn't damaged beyond repair. She jumps up and sits on the bonnet. When she does, one of the headlights fall out and crashes to the ground.
Edward honestly can't believe that he was relieved that she was there on the field. It was a momentary lapse in judgement, he sees that now. Alice cuts in before he can go absolutely berserk. "Well, as long as the two of you are safe everything has worked out." She tells them cheerily. The girl shoots them both a wide, dazzling smile.
"Well, let's not be rash now." Carlisle clears his throat, reminding them all that there are still two more of the nomads yet to be killed. One of which being James' mate. They could be plotting to ambush them right now. "We need to discuss our next steps. Victoria will most likely be coming after us now."
"We won't be discussing anything." Diana laughs. She jumps off the car and begins stretching out her limbs. "Here's what's going to happen, she's going to hunt me down for revenge and then I'm going to rip her head off." The slayer informs them. It really is as simple as that- or at least it should be. There's only one- quite possibly two of vampires coming to attack them- so it should be a piece of cake unless one of them has some almighty gift. Although she seriously doubts that as they would have used it out on the field.
Jasper shakes his head. "I wouldn't be too sure about that." He crosses his arms and straightens out his posture as every single set of eyes in the room land on him. "You killed her mate and she wants revenge. She wants you to feel exactly what she does." He informs them.
An eye for an eye. Only in this situation Diana doesn't have an 'eye', so to speak, for her to take.
The slayer scoffs, running her fingers over the tattoos on her exposed arms as she ponders which one she'll use. Perhaps she should just use her bare hands. "Well I don't have a mate." The closest thing she has to a mate is Leah and they aren't even together, besides if she takes so much as a step onto the Reservation she'll have a pack of wolves to answer to.
"But you do have someone you want to protect." Jasper motions to Bella, whose eyes widen at the realisation. Victoria will be coming after her of all people, the person who would have been James' next meal if her sister hadn't stopped him.
Edward scowls, realising his brother is right.
The blonde frowns. "So tell me again, why didn't you just kill them when I was whisking Bella away?" The fact that they aren't mentioning the other vampire at all is also putting her on edge. Laurent could be just as much as a threat as Victoria. Sure, she'd love to kill those vampires herself but when it comes down to it her sister's life is more important than a quick kill. It's not like she can be a twenty-four-seven protection detail for the girl.
"I don't know but I'm beginning to regret it." Edward replies through gritted teeth. For once the two of them appear to agree on something, which makes him feel slightly ill at the thought, but he won't deny that Diana is right.
