*NATHAN IN THE MEDIA*
The Boy
Laurel's POV
"You look better." I say to Steph when I walk into the kitchen.
"I feel better." She answers, pouring a smoothie into a clear bottle with a black top, "You on the other hand look exhausted."
"I stayed up late working on an English assignment." I lie.
"Okay." Steph says, sounding unconvinced.
I turn on my phone and see I have a text message from Sarah.
Is ur mom coming 2 skool 2day?
"You are coming to school today, right?" I ask Steph.
"Yes." She says, picking up her purse and keys, "We actually need to get going."
I pull my bookbag from the chair and follow her out to the car. We pull out of the garage and speed down the street of the subdivison.
"Did you tell dad yet?" I ask Steph.
"No." She replied, staring straight ahead at the road.
"Why not?"
"I fell asleep," she shrugs, "When he got in the bed it was so late. I'll tell him tonight. I'm sure."
"What's the difference between tonight and last night? He'll still come home late." I point out.
"Im going to tell him. I just need some time to think." Steph explains, turning on the main street of town.
"Think about what? You just have to tell him." I say back.
Steph looks at me then puts her eyes back on the road. I see her face long enough to register the guilt.
"You're not thinking of getting rid of the baby are you?" I demand.
"I have to consider all options." Steph sighs.
"What options?" I shout, "I can't believe you."
"This is not your decision Laurel." Steph grits through her teeth, tightening her grip on the steering wheel.
"Oh really?" I ask sarcastically.
"No. Its not. It's between me and your father."
"My father would never agree to an abortion." I spit.
We pull into the school parking lot shortly after. Thank God.
"Now wait a minute young lady." Steph starts, parking her car in her reserved spot.
"Don't try to explain your psychotic reasoning to me. Its not my decision." I say, throwing her own words back in her face.
I swing the car door open and step out. Steph struggles with her seat belt and hurries out behind me. I slam my door and start walking away.
"Laurel!" Steph calls.
I can hear the pleading in her voice, but I keep walking. I pull our my phone and text Sarah.
Where r u?
Courtyard she texts back. Behind the skool.
I practically run for the courtyard without looking back.
********************
"Hey!" I say to Sarah when I spot her at a picnic table in the far right corner of the courtyard.
