Heartbreak

Laurel's POV

I took my time getting dressed and applying my make-up this morning. After stressful deliberation, I decided to wear a flowing white sundress that goes to my knee with a fashion dent just below my breast, adorned with gold accessories with my hair in a sloppy bun on top of my head with loose strands hanging down, framing my face perfectly. Instead of heels I choose white Michael Kors flats with a gold MK symbol on the toe.

Now as I'm sitting in the car with Steph in the way to school I wonder if its too much...or not enough. I hate feeling like this. Its like time went backwards and I'm back trying to impress Julia once again.

"What's on your mind?" Steph asks as we drive through town.

"I'm going to talk to her today." I sigh, referring to Julia. "We haven't talked since my party. Its the longest we've ever went without speaking."

"Are you scared?" Steph asks, glancing at me, then back to the road.

"Very." I admit, "I really don't want her to be mad at me."

"It'll be fine. You'll work it out if its meant to be." Steph assures me, taking one of her hands off the steering wheel to hold mine.

"I hope so." I whisper, more to myself than to her.

The rest of the ride is rode in a comfortable silence as I think about Julia. When we pull up into the school parking lot and slowly I unbuckle my seat belt as a fresh wave of nervousness rushes through my body. Though I agreed to talk to Julia after class not before it will be the first time I've seen her since Saturday. Stepping out of the car, I rub my sweating hands along the hem of my dress.

"You'll be fine." Steph smiles at me.

I nod nervously.

"Breathe!" She tells me, rubbing my arms.

I force myself to draw in a deep breath.

"Why are you so nervous?" Steph asks curiously.

I hesitate before answering.

"I don't know. I guess its because deep down I know there's a possibility that we shouldn't be together and that she deserves so much better me."

"I doubt that she could deserve anything better than what you have to offer." Steph says.

"How do you know?" I smile softly, " You don't even know who I'm talking about."

"That's true. But I know you and I know at your age is doesn't really get that much better." Steph compliments.

I feel my face heat up.

"You should be a motivational speaker or something." I joke.

"Maybe one day." Steph laughs. "Now calm down."

"Okay." I say, drawing a breathe in through my nose.

Steph pulls me into a hug before she starts for the main office and me to the quad where me and my friends meet every morning.

"Hey." Melony from the party says, suddenly popping up beside me.

"Hi." I smile.

"Where ya headed?"

"The quad to meet up with some friends. Want to come with?" I ask.

"Sure." She shrugs. "I like your outift by the way."
