More Than A Friend
Laurel's POV
"I'm stuffed." Sarah groans, as she drives her car towards my house.
"Yea." I agree,"That all you can eat buffet is no joke."
A few seconds later we pull into my subdivision, then into my driveway.
"Here we are." She smiles.
"I guess we are." I smile back.
"Today was really fun. We should hangout more often."
"Absolutely." I nod.
"How about next weekend?" She asks.
"I don't know. I'll see." I promise.
"Okay."
Then there's silence. It starts off normal and soon after it turns weird. When I realize Sarah is staring intently at my face, my lips to be exact. As if she wants to kiss me. My heart starts to pound against my rib cage. I most definitely do not want to kiss her.
She leans forward across the arm rest, in order to avoid unnecessary embarassment i pull her into a hug unexpectedly and her lips connect with my neck instead of my lips. I let her go quickly and stumble out of the car. Before I can get to the door, I hear her let down her window.
"Laurel!" She calls.
"I'll text you!" I say without turning around.
I get inside the house and I sigh with relief.
"Laurel?" I hear Steph say.
"Yea. Its me." I answer, walking towards the sound of her voice.
"I'm fixing a snack. Are you hungry." Steph asks, when I step into the kitchen where she's cutting up all types of fruit.
"No. I just ate. Thanks though."
"Yea. I forgot just that quick. How was it?"
I watch Steph throw away all the scraps of extra fruit she's not going to eat and then I follow her to the living room and sit next to her on the couch.
"So...how was it?" she asks again.
"It was fine."
"You get to hangout with your new friend for a day and its just fine?" Steph says skeptically.
I look at her out of the corner of my eye, trying to avoid direct eye contact.
"Just fine." I assure her.
She doesn't answer, she just looks at me. Somehow I think she knew I would tell her eventually.
"Okay. So everything was great. We went to the movies. Then we went to the Golden Carols just outside of town. Then we were driving back. In the driveway she tried to...kiss me." I say whispering the last part.
"And what did you do?" Steph asks, patiently.
"I hugged her."
"She tried to kiss you and you hugged her?" Steph asks, a hint of a smile on her face.
"Its not funny." I say, trying to hold back laughter myself.
The more I think about it, and hearing her say it out loud the more ridiculous it sounds.
"Well it worked!" I say, defending myself.
"How exactly did it work?" Steph asks, smiling.
"It stopped her from kissing me." I pause, "Well my lips at least."
"Do I want to know?"
She's referring to the kiss. If it didn't land on my lips, then where did it end up?
"You dont want to know." I say, shaking my head.
"I suppose I don't." She laughs, "But guess what I do want to know."
"What?" I ask, taking a piece of pineapple from her fruit bowl.
"What you want to do for your birthday."
"I don't know." I shrug.
"Its your 18th birthday. It should be something big!" Steph says, shaking my knee.
"I don't have a lot of friends. I'm about to be one short if Sarah wants to be more than friends. I just don't think right now is the time for a party."
"I still think you should have one. It would be a great way to meet new people, make some more friends." Steph insists.
"If you say so." I give in. "But I'm warning you. I'm not much of a party person."
"You'll have fun. I promise." Steph assures me.
"We'll see." I say standing up from the couch, "I'm going to hop in the shower."
Steph nods and I start for my bedroom.
In the shower, I'm rubbing my loofa sponge across my body when someone's face pops into my head. This sends shocks of desire through my body. Though I've never in all my 17-almost 18-years masturbated, I feel the strong need to right now, at this very moment. Seeing her with that other woman makes me want her even more. Bracing myself against the shower wall, I slowly slip a finger into my wet core. I gasp at how good it feels I pull my finger in and out of myself, moaning as quietly as possible so not to be heard by Steph. Adding another finger I push and pull my fingers out of me, the whole time I don't even see the white marble walls of my shower. I see beautiful ocean blue eyes, long blonde hair, and perfectly bow shaped lips. Before I know it I release all over my hand. Taken back by the feeling I have to grip the towel rack handle in order to keep my balance, since my knees are weak and wobbly. I finish washing myself before stepping out of the shower.
Julia. I think to myself, a smile slowly creeping over my lips.
