Magnus was already enjoying his beverage when Izzy entered the establishment. Lily had selected one of the cozy bars for their Saturday evening, and Magnus genuinely appreciated the ambiance. Magnus had relished a delightful 30-minute to himself. He had the pleasure of occupying a comfortable green couch all to himself, while the soothing melodies of 60s music played in the background.
"Hey, Mags." Izzy waved as soon as she spotted him.
"Hey!" Magnus waved back.
"Just the three of us, then?" Magnus asked as Izzy removed her leather jacket before sitting down.
"Just the three of us," Izzy confirmed as she sat next to Magnus.
"I'm surprised you're on time." Magnus moved, leaving more space for Izzy to sit down.
"Also, aren't you cold?" Magnus asked as he observed Izzy's dress.
"Hey!" Izzy glared.
"You look amazing, Isabelle. Just, it's almost winter and you're wearing a short dress and a leather jacket." Magnus was very protective of Izzy. He had always treated her as if she were his own younger sister.
"You sound just like Alec," Izzy groaned.
"Don't worry, I drove today and if I do get cold, I know I can borrow your coat. Your coats are always the best!"Izzy winked as she leaned over and picked up the drink menu from the table.
"Their espresso martini is quite nice, want to try?" Magnus offered Izzy a taste of his drink by gently pushing it towards her. Izzy accepted and took a sip, expressing her delight with a contented hum.
"Yeah, I'm also going to get one of those." Izzy tried to get up, but Magnus quickly stopped her.
"Let me, drinks are on me. Remember?" Magnus patted Izzy's shoulder in a brotherly manner before departing with a warm smile.
"Lily is going to be late," Izzy said as soon as she noticed Magnus returning with a beverage.
"Is she all right?" Magnus placed the drink in front of her.
"Yeah, something to do with Raphael. Nothing to worry about, she said in the message." Izzy showed Magnus the message from Lily.
"As long as they're okay." Magnus sat down next to Izzy.
"Yeah." Izzy accepted the drink that was generously filled to the brim. She was pleasantly surprised to see that Magnus had managed to carry it all the way from the bar to their table without spilling a single drop.
"Spill it." Magnus stated, without making eye contact with Izzy, that he was aware of her eagerness to engage in a conversation. Her body language clearly indicated that she had numerous questions on her mind. While Izzy is typically known for her confrontational nature, Magnus sensed that she required a gentle push in the right direction.
"You are an idiot!" Izzy blurted out.
Magnus almost snorted his drink. "That wasn't what I was expecting to hear, but please elaborate."
"Why didn't you tell me?" Izzy looked at Magnus. She was clearly upset on his behalf.
"Because..." Magnus sighed.
"It was between me and Alec. Also, I didn't want to cause any issues between the families. I assumed Alec would tell you all."
"You didn't, and neither did he. Do you know how confused and lost we've all been until now?"
"I know, and for that, I am sorry." Magnus directed his gaze forward. The warm, golden illumination emanating from the bar's lights accentuated Magnus's features, lending them a heightened sense of definition.
