A few months after their conversation---
"Alec.." Magnus's sorrowful cry came through the phone.
"Magnus?" Alec did not think much when he received a call from Magnus. Since their conversation, they have been communicating more frequently and calling each other more often. However, Alec understood that Magnus had erected an emotional barrier around his heart, and he could not blame him.
Ultimately, Alec vowed to remain by Magnus's side until Magnus learned to trust him. He was uncertain how long it would take or if it would ever happen. Nevertheless, he did not mind as long as he could make amends to Magnus to the best of his ability.
"Magnus, what is going on?" Alec mouthed sorry to Lily as she was sorting through some of the crucial documents that Alec needed to review before the next day.
"Chairman.." Magnus's voice trailed off, likely due to his flustered state.
"Chairman is sick," Magnus said once he managed to take a breath in.
"Are you at the vet?" Alec got up from his chair and picked up his coat.
"I need to go," Alec mouthed at Lily again.
"Alec!" Lily hissed. He had to go through so many documents, and that excluded his other responsibilities.
Alec swiftly jotted down a message.
'Please send me an email with all the information. I will review it before tomorrow. I promise.'
Alec tapped on the notepad to get Lily's attention and promptly left the office as she became engrossed in reading the note. He could hear Lily's swearing , but he was eager to attend to Magnus.
"Yeah.."
"What is going on with Chairman?"
"He stopped eating the day before yesterday, and now he doesn't drink water either. His stomach is all bloated and.... and... I don't know..."
"I don't think it's anything serious, Magnus. Don't worry. I'll be there in 10mins. Okay? I'm sure everything will be fine. Will you be okay for 10mins? Is Imasu with you?"
"I'll be okay. Imasu.. he is at work. We couldn't leave at the same time."
"Okay, understood. Magnus, I'll be there as soon as I can. Okay? Don't worry about anything."
"Thank you, Alexander." Magnus ended the phone call, and Alec hurried to get to the veterinarian. Since they both adopted the kittens simultaneously, they have somewhat become cat dad friends. They exchanged daily cat videos and photographs and discussed the most recent cat-related trends and much more. Naturally, Magnus, being the more passionate cat owner, Alec simply smiled and listened to Magnus's hour-long conversations about cats.
Fortunately, it only took him 10 minutes to arrive at the veterinary clinic. Alec was concerned about both Chairman and Magnus. Alec had a deep affection for this kitten and its owner, and he did not want either of them to suffer. Alec hurried inside the building to find Magnus leaning against a wall, staring at the floor with his arms crossed over his chest. He appeared composed, but Alec could sense his distress. The way he kept pressing his fingers into his arms indicated his level of worry.
"Magnus." Alec called him as soon as possible, hoping that his presence might help Magnus in some way. Magnus looked up quickly and seemed genuinely relieved to see Alec there.
"Alec!"
"How is he? Did the doctor say anything?" Alec asked softly as he let Magnus hug him and hide his head on Alec's shoulders.
