Woman Of Intercession

According to Oxford dictionary intercession is the action of saying a prayer on behalf of another.

We often go into prayer, forgetting it should be a conversation because of that. But prayer isn't just about you sharing your day and your interests, venting, and getting things.

No, in communication, things are both ways. You will be in a time where God speaks and you listen. Where He says what He wants. Where He instructs. Where He guides. Where He advises. In this place, God wants us to pray for others and to do things for His will to be done. As you continue to grow in your faith, He'll guide you to intercede.

Intercession is beyond you. Prayer is selfless. It goes with the mission of what's in the heart of the Father. It's when you have a level of maturity and responsibility to know that as much as you're valuable in the sight of God, as much as big your problems can be, there are other people just as valuable and just as burdened as you. You're God's precious daughter, but God doesn't only have you. He has so many others. As you grow, you learn not just to take care of your walk but the walk of others as well.

With that being said, we want to be women of intercession. Women who can go to their knees to pray for everything else other than themselves as well.

First note that we are also being intercede for (Romans 8:26, Romans 8:34).

1) Intercession for your family

It starts at home. If you live with your parents, pray for them. That God gives them wisdom. It's easy to complain about your family, and yes, I agree there are some genuinely bad parents out there. Some siblings can be horrible and abusive. I'm not talking about that category. But praying for your parents and siblings is so important. Praying God gives them wisdom and understanding.

While you stay with your parents, you're under their authority spiritually and physically. You have to obey them. You have to honor them (if what they call you to do is biblical). You have to respect them. If they decide the family moves to another country, you have to go. That's why you must pray they are always led by God and protected. When the enemy wants to bring dysfunction, he often attacks the family. He can bring sickness to your parents. He can discourage your parents from the faith. If your parents leave Christianity or start to shake in their faith, it will affect you. It will affect whether you can go to church or not. If they don't allow you to pursue the career God is leading you to, they can stand as an obstacle.

Even if you aren't living with them, you must take care of the vessels God used to bring you into the world.

Your siblings are also important. They have a destiny, and they have a purpose. They have a calling, and they will be one of the closest people to you. They are involved in almost everything in your life just by being related to you. You must pray for their lives because how can you pray for your other siblings in Christ yet neglect your blood-related own?

2) Intercession for your friends

Luke 22:32-34
ESV

32 but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned again, strengthen your brothers. 33 Peter said to him, Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death. 34 Jesus said, I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow this day, until you deny three times that you know me.
