At times, we can seem lost, confused, and as though we are walking aimlessly. This happens when you lose sight of your purpose... or just don't know what it is.
So, what is your purpose? Why were you born? Why are you here?
These are questions everyone has at a certain point. You'll read thousands of philosophies on it. It has driven some even to depression and despair.
But as women of God, we aren't of this world. The world might be blind to their purpose, but not us.
Our purpose is simpler than what many people think.
1) To know Him
God made us first for Himself. When God created this world, He wanted communion with man. Fellowship and, in simple words, a relationship. Was God lonely? No, He doesn't need us. He chooses us. He wanted us. As women of God, we must remember that we were first and foremost created to know God and to have a relationship with Him.
To talk to Him, to get to know Him and walk with Him.
If you're lost in what you're supposed to do, know that you should work to get to know God. How so? Seek Him, read the word, and pray. Study the word, ask God questions, and spend a lot of time with him.
This point is first because nothing is as important as this. You can do everything in the world, world, but if you don't know God for yourself, everything is a waste of time. God doesn't want you just to do stuff; He wants to do stuff with you.
He wants to reveal to you things, speak to you about them, and have discussions. He wants to help you grow and be your ear, support, and strength.
2) To reflect Him
We have the image of God. We are unique in this way. Because of sin, we couldn't bear God's image like before (Genesis 1:27).
God wants us to reflect Him in character. If you're lost in what you should be doing, work to be more like Him.
To have the fruit of the Spirit. Check your heart, check your life. Is there impatience? Are you easily angered? Do you try to help pliers? Are you selfish?
Galations 5 has a list of the fruit of the Spirit. It's a great way to examine yourself.
Actively working to become who God has called you to be is so important because the fruit of the Spirit is vital.
God wants us to represent Him well and to reflect His nature. That's how we show we are His sons and daughters. By reflecting His character, it testifies that we aren't of the world.
3) Love people
Jesus says that we, as light, aren't meant to be hidden (Matthew 5:14-16). If you're feeling lost on what to do, work on asking yourself how you can love others more. What can you do for people? How can you make their lives better? How can you show the love of Christ,
How can you serve those around you?
God will always call us to service no matter what. There is always something you can do for God.
Serving God isn't just ministry on a stage. It's not just leading a bible study or writing devotionals. It is also checking up on people, praying for them, helping someone with their chores, cleaning around, supporting others, etc.
4) Seek God
The closer you grow to God, the more you are transformed and have the right heart posture. This is when God will start revealing the specifics.
This is when your desires will start to change.
The bible writes how as we delight ourselves in the Lord, He gives us the desires of our heart (Psalm 37:4).
The more you delight in God, the more you'll desire Him and the more He will share His heart with you which will. He'll open your eyes and speak to you on what you can do for Him.
Whether He will put a burden on you to defend the truth and become a lawyer. Whether He'll inspire you with poems to touch others. Whether He will direct you to ministry or direct you to be someone who will stand on His word in government.
Those things are just the vehicles where you can further reflect Him. Callings can change. One day, God can call you to be a musician and the next doctor. One days you can be called to be a writer, but later, God calls you to focus more on your kids instead.
It doesn't matter exactly what you do as long as you're doing God's will. Always growing to know Him and making Him known.
When you do this, you never feel lost. You don't need a voice in the sky, an angel to come to you or some supernatural encounter to start doing the very top 3 things I shared. This is your mission, and when it's your focus, everything else follows.
Matthew 6:33 says that if we seek first the KINGDOM and His RIGHTEOUSNESS, everything else will be added.
Make it your vision and primary focus. Let them be what gets you up in the morning. Before you go to school, university, or work, ask yourself how you can spend time with God today and how you can serve someone today.
These two things should constantly be pressed on your heart.
And trust me, I mean this. If you try, truly take this post seriously and practice every day, challenging yourself to pray, seek God, grow close to Him, and have the desire to serve others. God will see your determination and everything else and those specific directions that words and confrontations will follow.
Now today, yourself, how can you best do this verse?
And by doing exactly that, you're walking in your purpose. The rest will fellow✨️
Mark 12:30-31
ESV
30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' 31 The second is this: 'You shall love your neighbour as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these."
