Woman Of Faith
We all go through the test of faith. It is when the word given to us is now being challenged by circumstances and situations. It's when the word given to us needs to now become real to us. Needs to be our anchor and strength to overcome whatever fears, worries, and doubts that come our way.
Genesis 2:17
NKJV
"but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die."When God gave Adam this command to not eat of the tree. It was God giving Adam His word. God was giving Adam His guidance, revelation, anchor, and truth that He could listen to and stand on.
But God allowed there to be a test.
God allows the enemy to bring temptation so that our faith can become real. Our faith isn't real without temptation and trials. God always allows us to have a season where we are given the word, the instruction, etc. and there is another season of trial, temptation where the foundation you're rooted in that word is revealed.
When you're in that season of receiving the word, you can be happy. This reminds me of the parable of the Sower (Read Matthew 13 for context).
You can first receive the word in joy. it's easy to believe at that moment, and you're rooted that God is faithful to fulfil it. Hearing God's promises or receiving a prophetic word is exciting. Listening to a motivational podcast or a powerful word can raise your spirit. Then comes the times of temptation. When time passes, doubts arise, waves come, winds start blowing and depending on how rooted you are in the truth of the word it will determine if the situation will overcome you or you'll overcome it with the word.
When the bible says they have been overcome by the blood of the lamb and the WORD of their testimony, it reveals their roots (Revelation 12:11). The word of God helps us overcome. It gives us victory, but it all depends on the level of faith we receive.
The Bible says faith comes from hearing the word of God (Romans 10:17). The word of God is what builds faith. When we meditate on God's promises and his word, we can increase our faith. Without faith, which helps you not be easily deceived.
Back to Adam and Eve. They fell because they didn't stand on the rock of faith coming from the word. The word God gave them should've been an assurance that eating the fruit would result in a curse, not a blessing. When they were convinced, rooted, and convicted, it would've resulted in the fact that God isn't a liar. They would've run from the serpent and to God.
Jesus displayed this beautifully. Jesus, when He was tempted in the wilderness. Jesus heard the word of God and was rooted in it.
He had more faith in God's word than anything else. God tests our faith. He tests if we truly believe in His word and character. He tests if we are rooted in what we know about God. He tests if we trust His words over anything else.
This test of faith will reveal itself through the different trials, issues, and wars you'll face. It's that question in each season. "Will I place my faith in God or not?"
God cares so much about faith because it's what pleases Him (Hebrews 11:6). God is pleased because when we have faith, it means we trust Him. It means we root ourselves in Him, His word, and what His doing. We are always trusting in something, but God wants our main trust to be geared towards Him.
Adam and Eve received the word, but they had to stick to the word, which is what Jesus did, but they didn't. The word of God should've been their strength, their resistance, their anchor, but it wasn't.
The word given to us is meant to motivate us.
The power of a word is that it can still speak long after it was spoken.
