Diagne
"Mom," was the first thing I said when I opened my eyes, greeting me with a white ceiling.
But instead of my mother to come near me, it was Zayde who has a serious eyes plastered on his face.
"Where am I?" I asked him.
His jaw clenched and took him a minute to answer my question. What's happening to him? The hell.
"You're in the hospital. You passed out after your wounds got cleaned up."
"Why did you bring me here instead to my house?" I raised a brow at him.
His stare was more convince to keep it into my eyes. "Why? Do you have a doctor in your house?" he sounded sarcastic.
Tama nga naman.
Hindi ako sumagot but I rolled my eyes at him and shifted my gaze in other direction.
"You're still a brat, don't you?" I heard him say.
I turned back my eyes on him for me to gasp as he discreetly passed his hand over my thigh to fix the blanket that wasn't properly covering my feet. I thought he's going to remove his hand on it but to my surprise, he deliberately placed his hand on my thigh wrapped in a blanket.
I gasped as I tried to swallow the lump that got stuck in my throat. The heat from his hand made me weak that I even close my eyes because of it.
"Zayde..." I whispered.
When I open my eyes, he's just staring at me like he's watching a movie. Tutok na tutok sa pinanood. Every move I did was caught by him. My breathing got heavy when I felt his sudden pinched.
"Roll your eyes at me. This is not just the experience that's going to happen the next time you do that again." he said in a cold tone of his voice.
That was insane! What are you doing to me, Zayde Gervacio?
He stared at me for seconds before he stood up, not breaking our eye contact.
"Why didn't you call my parents?" I asked.
He chuckled like something was funny on what I said.
"I don't want to be punched by your father."
Nagtaas ako ng kilay. "Talagang masusuntok ka ng tatay ko kapag nakita ka niya. So you better keep your face hidden from my father." I said in a sarcastic way.
Kita ko ang bahagyang paglambot ng kaniyang ekspresyon pero hindi niya yon pinahalata.
What? He felt guilty now? It's a must for him to feel guilty though. Gago siya eh.
I saw him looked at his wrist watch then back to me.
"Can you stand up?"
"Why?"
"We're going home."
Hindi na natigil ang pagtaas ko ng kilay sa kaniya.
"We're not in the same roof. So what home are you talking about?"
His jaw clenched again like his killing me inside of his mind.
"Don't be too sarcastic, Nerisabeth. It's just a question answerable by yes or no."
Natigil ako dahil sa sinabi niya. He called me Nerisabeth. Like before, he's the only one calling me by my second name. Where he also get my nickname from, Sab. He calls me Nerisabeth when he's serious, like right now. I don't know, but it's just a relief when I heard him calling me names made by him again.
