Diagne
Today is the day. Visitors are approaching, candles are lit up, and the music is playing. Everything is all set.
"Diagne,"
I heard my mom's sweet voice behind me. She's wearing a red dress that matches the theme. She kissed my cheek when she got near me. I just smiled as a sign that I'm all set when I looked at her.
She was busy locking it up, and by the time I saw it, it was a necklace. Its chain was crafted from the finest silver, glinting with an ethereal glow as if touched by moonlight itself. Each facet of its gemstones catching and refracting the illumination with an ethereal brilliance. Surrounding the opal, a halo of tiny diamonds sparkled like a constellation of stars, adding a touch of celestial allure to it's elegancy.
I got confused. I don't know if it's because of joy or some other reason that caused her to have teary eyes as she gave me the necklace.
"What's the matter, mommy?" I asked with a sweet voice, matching the tone of her voice.
By that moment, I know something is running in her mind.
Seeing her like this made my heart melt. Her eyes soften even more when I show a sweet smile. Communicating through my eyes makes it easy for me to express how I truly feel.
But...what am I really feeling? I'm happy. Yes, I am happy.
I'm used to facing many people, and I always give them a smile that I know satisfies them, even if it's not a genuine one.
"Awwee"
I never forced my mom to talk about what has been on her mind, I just wait for her until she's willing to share it.
But to my opposite thoughts, she said something that made me turn to her. "Someday, you will understand why."
Mula sa pagkakangiti, kumunot ang noo ko. Tinapunan ko siya ng nagtatanong na tingin. "What?"
"Thank you, mommy."
