"An airship? And you want me to come?" I ask Korra.
"We're going to be looking for new airbenders in the Earth Kingdom. This is the perfect opportunity for you to learn airbending from Tenzin. And you can help encourage others to come to the air temples."
"I'm not really the encouraging type." I frown.
Korra looks me over, "True. But it's still worth a try, right?"
"I don't have a choice in this, do I?"
"No." She smiles, "It will be fun, Kazuko. You just have to loosen up a bit."
"I'm not a stick in the mud." I cross my arms. Korra looks at me with a smirk and cocks her brow. I sigh, "I'm better than I used to be."
"You'll learn to tolerate it." Korra smiles, "And by the end of this trip you might have a grasp at the basics of airbending."
"I can only hope. Tenzin taught you, right? Was he a good teacher?"
Korra looks at me uneasily, "Tenzin... he's not a bad teacher."
"But he's not good?" I raise my brows.
"He wasn't the ideal teacher for me. Maybe he'll be good for you."
I tilt my head, "I was never very good with my teachers back in the Fire Nation. I went through four different firebending masters as a kid."
"Four?!"
"Yeah. And those were just the firebenders." I shrug.
Korra chuckles, "Tenzin is going to be in for a rough ride with you as his student."
"I'll try to go easy on him."
Korra looks up at the clear sky, "The airship should be here soon. You should pack your bag."
"A warning for all of this would've been nice" I scoff.
Korra claps me on the back, "If we gave you a warning, that would've given you too much time to back out and run away."
"Fine." I grumble, "You have a point. I'll pack a bag."
I head off to my room and pack up what few personal belongings I own. I pick up the orange robes which Tenzin gave me. He said that now that I'm an airbender, I should dress the part. Unfortunately for him, red is my colour. I shove the robes into my bag.
I throw my bag over my shoulder and walk outside. There is a large shadow cast over the island and the cause of it is the large airship docked overhead.
I walk closer to the airship where everyone is standing, ready to board. I make eye contact with Mako who gives me a sharp glare.
"I heard you were back." He says coldly.
"I heard you sleep under your desk at work." I taunt back with a smirk.
Mako clenches his jaw, "What are you even doing here, Kazuko?"
I roll my eyes, "When are you going to admit that I'm not some kind of great evil?"
Mako looks over my shoulder at his friends behind me, "I don't get how they can forgive you so easily after all that you've done to them."
"People have flaws, Mako. And some of us are trying to grow from them."
"You head-butted my brother!"
"I apologized!" I retort. Mako scoffs, "That's not good enough."
"Not good enough? Not good enough?! What am I supposed to do? Swear the rest of my life to servitude for Bolin? I don't think he would want that."
