The Unexpected (Namkook)

Part 11

Namjoon was exhausted from the persistent clingy approach of Ha-jin. For the last few days she's been acting crazier than usual. Roses, cards, chocolates were presented in abundance that Namjoon fiercely threw away in front of the sender to reject the unwanted proposal. He was shocked to see her undefeated attitude as if she wouldn't breathe until he accepted her as his girlfriend.

"You are just unbelievable, Ha-jin! How many times do I have to repeat? I'm not interested in you. And how dare you follow me here?"

Namjoon spat as bitterly as possible finding the girl following him till the burger joint where he was supposed to meet Jungkook in few minutes. He got out of his car checking time when Ha-jin hugged him from the back, behaving like a couple in that public place.

"Why aren't you, Joonie? I'm beautiful, I love you and I will listen to everything you would say. Please don't break my heart." She begged with teary eyes that did not put any spell on Namjoon's heart but he definitely felt sorry for the girl.
"Listen, you are fine. You can get anyone you want, just not me, please! I don't feel anything for you, Ha-jin. We already tried dating once, we exchanged gifts too just like a couple. But, we didn't feel the spark. You agreed with me that time then why bringing back all those shit now?" Namjoon tried to keep his pitch low to avoid gaining attention from the surroundings.

"It was a year ago, Joonie."
"Stop calling me with that name."
"Namjoon, if you think it had no spark, then let me make you feel what a real spark is."

Before Namjoon could figure out her intention, she forcefully pulled him by his sweater collars for a lip lock. The man, on the other hand, being aghast at her audacity, got frozen for a moment before pushing her away from him. He roughly wiped his lips after spitting on the ground in disgust.

"Now you know what a spark is, Namjoon?" Ha-jin asked with glistening eyes hoping to achieve success in her mission.
"You idiot! Can't you understand why I'm saying I'm not interested in you?" Namjoon's patience level crossed the tolerance limit now, compelling him to yell at the other.
"No, I don't want to understand!"
"Because I like someone else!"

Prior to Ha-jin retrieving herself from the shock, a loud splashing of liquid accompanied by crushing sound of plastic became the core of attention. The ears of the duo followed it to notice Jungkook standing crouched down to pick the crushed takeaway glasses while the brown liquid was scattered around those.

"Jungkook!" Namjoon ran towards the cop freeing his arm from Ha-jin's hold.
"I'm sorry, Namjoon. I didn't know you'll be expecting someone." Jungkook said with lowered head as he stood up from his previous position.
"I was waiting for you and then-uh-I don't know! Just give me a moment and I'll be back." Before Namjoon could walk to Ha-jin, she ran towards her car after stomping her feet on the ground with a loud scoff.

"I guess she's not going to be interrupting us." He sighed closing his eyes to take in all the events happened in a span of just 2 minutes.
"I thought you were not seeing anyone." Namjoon turned facing the other man now.
"I'm not. She's just a trouble." Jungkook's broken heart somehow got stitched in a second after Namjoon assured him of his bachelorhood. He chuckled lightly saying, "Why don't you like her?" to which he received "I like older women, remember?"

Namjoon shared the entire story behind Ha-jin's forceful kiss although he decided not to put emphasis on the fact that he likes someone else. It was just in the fate that Jungkook clearly heard the younger saying the same even if he denied. Giving the benefit of doubt, the elder chose to believe Namjoon that he lied to Ha-jin for putting a check on her desperate attempts.

The rest of the evening went by with two plates of cheeseburgers and fries. Small details from their school life were shared which made it very clear to Jungkook that the younger was head over heels for Ms. Park whom they bumped into few days ago. It was tough for him to suppress the increasing amount of affection he's growing towards Namjoon, but ruining their bond was not an option over a rash decision.

"Joonie, I will be going to the dry cleaners shop. Do you have anything to submit?" Sang-mi asked knocking on her son's bedroom.
"Mom, it's opened." He was not in a mood to get up from the bed early on a Saturday morning.

"Do you want to give any jacket or shirt to the cleaners?" She walked towards Namjoon's bed that had a blanket wrapped man squinting his eyes at the sudden disturbance of sleep.
"I have a jacket to give but wore it once only, so leave it. I might wear it today."
"Okay, but get up Joonie. It's 11 already and you didn't even have breakfast yet. Shall I bring some up here or do you want to have lunch?" She removed the blanket from Namjoon's body, much to his dismay.

Namjoon jumped off the bed after today's plan popped up in his memory. He was supposed to meet Jungkook for brunch today at a Korean hotpot restaurant that both of them are fond of.
"I'll have brunch with a friend, mom. Sorry!"
He took out some fresh clothes from the wardrobe and rushed to the bathroom.

"Thank god you are making friends!" Sang-mi chuckled to herself feeling happy to see her son socialising. She exited the room after closing the door.

Checking himself out at least five times in the mirror, he walked to the closet to get his almost new jacket which he mentioned to Sang-mi. He blocked his nostrils raising the upper lip at the pungent smell coming from the jacket. As far  as he remembered, it was an expensive brand new piece of clothing that he wore once in college.

It was 10:55 in the clock and it's at least half an hour of drive to the hotpot restaurant. Dumping the idea of going for another jacket, he sprayed some strong scented deodorant on the one in his hand and put it on before leaving the house.
