Jungkook wanted to pull the trigger of his gun on his head before watching Namjoon being taken away to the lockup. Sung-ho did the paperwork as he didn't want to bother Jungkook who seemed already stressed.

"Before sir is here, just go and talk to him. And do not even think of showing any emotion in front of boss. If you do, you know I would not be able to help you, Jeon. Also, I warned the junior officers not to let out any word in front of him."
Not in this life did Jungkook think of finding a true friend in someone who he could easily call his enemy even a few weeks back.
"You're helping me with someone who is a murder case suspect?"

Sung-ho stopped typing on his computer and shifted his gaze at the man sitting across him.
"I'm envious of your bachelor life so don't want you to be stuck in that forever, Jeon." Although it sounded like an open threat, the sweetness of the words and Sung-ho's smirk melted Jungkook's heart realising the elder was confirmed of something going on between him and Namjoon.
"How did you?"
"I'm elder than you, of course I have more experience in these things, kid. Next time you see my wife with me in a party, please don't tell her I lectured you on this."

Jungkook chuckled with eyes bursting out in emotion at the other's words full of warmth.
"Don't sit here, go and talk to your boyfriend or husband, I don't know whatever he is to you." He wanted to give the man a tight hug for saying all the dreamy words about his relationship with Namjoon but controlled himself and went to the cell allocated for his loved one.

As he walked into the cell after unlocking the entrance, Namjoon stood up from the bed on which he was sitting previously. Jungkook wrapped his arms around the shaking body that had its head rested on the elder's shoulder.

"I didn't do anything, Jungkook. What are they saying about me?" The frail voice turned to a whimpering one now due to which the elder pulled him tighter in the safe embrace of his arms.
"Someone is plotting against you, Namjoon. I promise I will find it out before anyone can touch you."
"Please get me out of here."

The younger broke down crying hysterically while Jungkook kept patting his back and kissing his head.
"Don't tell this to anyone that we know each other else the inspector will drop my name out of this case." Jungkook said looking at the crying eyes after breaking the hug.
"But they already saw us."
"They are fine, but not a single soul apart from them should know. You trust me, right?" Namjoon gave a fast nod as Jungkook wiped his moist cheeks before placing few kisses on them.

Time was ticking and he needs to arrange every proof of the actual truth. As he was looking through the lab reports by Kai, the sheet of paper got snatched away from his hand. Looking up, he found Sung-ho putting all the evidences like Namjoon's jacket, ID card holder and the painting from Lee residence in an unlabelled cardboard box.
"What are you doing?" He asked astoundingly.

"Are you this naive, Jeon? I already read the report before going for the arrest. We need to hide these as of now." He continued putting the items.
"What do you mean?" Taking a deep sigh, he annoyedly looked at the younger and answered, "Look, Namjoon's arrest wasn't made on the basis of this report that I don't know where you have gathered from. But, one thing is certain that there is some bigger information about this and if that is being used against Namjoon, then we need to save these items which, we don't know when, but might turn out to be in his favour."

Jungkook was puzzled at the complicated reasoning Sung-ho provided to him and judging his expressions, the later came to know about the same.
"Okay, I will say in the simplest form."
"Yeah, that will be helpful."
"We need to get our hands on the evidences and witness details that enforced the inspector to issue the arrest warrant and hide these documents of yours for the time being."

Both nodded in acknowledgment of each other's suspicions and put the items aside before Bin walked in.
"Good morning fellas!"
"Good morning, sir." The two subordinates greeted him.
"I have some tasks assigned for you two. Sung-ho, you go and check the Lee residence once again. Don't forget to search every tiny corner of that house as well as the adjoining garden and backyard. Jeon, you will be accompanying him as well."

He went to sit at his own desk leaving the other two unsure of the reason why they were being assigned to a task that has already been done several times in past few weeks.
"Sir, but about the arrest we made? There's no proof of his involvement yet." Sung-ho asked taking few steps towards the senior most person in the bureau.
"I have the proof and witness details which will be produced in court, Sung-ho. It's confidential and only to be shared with the lawyer handling Byeol's case. Also, Mr. Kim has been replaced by another lawyer due to his son being arrested for the same case." He replied logging in to his computer on the table.

Failing to come up with any logic behind the searching of Lee residence while the proofs are already gathered as confidential, Sung-ho asked, with objection in his tone.
"Sir, if the proofs are already there then why do we need to go to Lee residence?" Jungkook nodded in agreement with the question.

"Are you trying to question my work, Sung-ho?" Bin looked towards the said man with a taunting smile.
"No, sir. I was just-"
"Well, don't. Just do as I say."

"Sir, I am also not clear on this." Jungkook joined only to be back questioned by their boss, "Since when do you two started getting along?" with index finger pointing at both alternately.
"It's just-" before Jungkook could start answering, Bin's phone rang up and he gestured them to leave for their work as instructed.

Being helpless at the situation, they drove off to Lee's. Jungkook's heart became heavier to leave Namjoon alone.
"It's Kai, isn't it?" Sung-ho's query was answered in a humming tone.
"We can go to him with this." Sung-ho signalled him to take a look at the backseat where the unlabelled box was kept.
"He worked the night shift, so today might be his day off, Sung-ho shi." Jungkook stated with a deep release of breath.

"It's almost 10 now and you still aren't in your uniform."
"I know, I haven't gone home last night."
"I'm not asking why you are still in this dress, Jeon. I am asking why weren't you questioned for this?"

They both looked at each other with a serious doubt wondering why Bin hasn't pointed this out. He is always disciplined and it has happened several times that he made the officers go back home if they weren't in their uniforms.

"Do you-"
"We need to dig way deeper than I thought, Jeon."
