Seeing his full body, dressed up in a suit and his hair not as messy as usual made me realize that he was taking this seriously.
"Did you just get here?" Justin asked once he was standing in front of me.
I shook my head. "No," I replied. "Just getting some fresh air."
His eyes looked at me up and down. "I'm guessing you weren't planning on staying long."
"No," I replied. "You clean up nice."
He chuckled then put his hands on the pockets of his dress pants. "I do try," was all he said.
"How is it?" I asked. "You know, running the company with your parents."
"It's different. Not something I ever thought I'd see myself doing but you know, can't be a disappointment forever."
"You're not wrong."
I crossed my arms in front of my chest, holding onto my biceps starting to feel the cold air hitting my skin.
"Are you cold?" Justin asked, starting to unbutton his suit coat.
I opened my mouth, about to tell him it's fine, but he was already taking his coat off and handing it to me.
"Thank you," I said, taking the coat from him.
No problem," he said, reaching his hand in his pocket. "But that coat will only keep you warm for so long." He pulled out his car keys adding, "want to sit down?"
I should say no or tell him that I should look for Erica so she could take me home but I didn't say anything close to that.
"Yeah," is what I said then followed him to his car.
The walk wasn't that far but when we got to his car I got in on the passenger side and Justin got in behind the wheel. Once we closed our doors, he started up his car and I felt relaxed when I felt the warm air hit my face.
"Can you feel it?" Justin asked, holding his hand up in front of my vent.
"Yeah. That feels good."
He smirked when our eyes met and I felt a warmth on my cheeks. And it wasn't from the heat of his car.
"Adrian," Justin spoke suddenly. "I get the feeling you weren't just getting some fresh air."
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"You didn't want to be at that event did you?"
I shook my head not even trying to lie. "Not really," I said softly.
"Why?" He asked shifting in his seat. "Because last I remember I thought you said that you were going to be helping Erica run it."
"That was before." I paused hoping that Justin wouldn't notice.
"Before..."
But of course he noticed.
"Before," I let out a breath. "Before... we did what we did at your house."
Justin's eyes didn't leave me and I couldn't help but wonder what was going on his mind.
"You haven't been getting my messages I see," Justin said, finally breaking eye contact.
He texted me?
"Your messages?" I asked.
"Yeah I texted you a few times after our conversation in front of your house."
"What did you say?" I asked, wanting to know what else there was that he wanted to say to me.
He shook his head. "It doesn't matter," he said.
