It's been a month and staring at my short thread of messages with Justin, there still wasn't a response to the text I sent him. By this time I was sure that he was ghosting me and I should let it go but it's not that simple anymore.
Before, I could barely stand being around him. Hearing his name used to give me PTSD, now hearing and saying his name makes me... miss him when I know I shouldn't. Thinking about him made me feel emotional and broken to the point I wanted to scream.
Now, all I wanted was to be around him.
I wanted to sit in bed all day and forget about the world because that's what Justin had on me. I didn't want to do anything if I knew he wasn't going to be around. I didn't want to speak if I knew he wasn't the one I was going to be talking to. All those things are usually what you feel with someone you're obsessed over. So I knew that Justin was someone that I was now intoxicatingly obsessed over.
There was a knock on my door then I heard Erica call out my name before slowly opening my door. I made eye contact with her and the burning irritating feeling while I looked at her filled my body.
"If you're going to rot in your room the least you could do is open a window," she said, trying to make a joke but I didn't find it funny.
"What do you want, Erica?" I asked, trying to wrap this conversation up.
She closed my bedroom door behind her before making her way to sit at the foot of my bed. "Look," she started in a calm tone. "I don't want to keep arguing with you little brother."
"I'm not little anymore so stop calling me that," I said firmly.
"You're right but you will always be younger than me," she said. "Anyways, I'm trying to figure out what I did to you to make you hate me so much."
"Are you serious?" I uncrossed my legs, letting my foot hit the floor. "You're for real going to act like you don't know the reason behind my hate towards you?"
"What did I do to hurt you, Adrian!?"
"Umm, I don't know Erica let's see, how about when Justin forced himself onto me and when I told you about it you called me an attention seeker! You took his side Erica and even when he told you... you were still close to him like nothing happened!"
"I already apologized to you about that."
"No you didn't."
"Well I'm apologizing now," she said and for once there wasn't a hint of attitude in her tone. "I'm sorry Adrian. I'm sorry that happened to you and I'm sorry that I said that you just wanted attention. I should've taken it more seriously and as your older sister I should have been there for you."
"Yeah you should've," I said under my breath.
"Are we good now?"
I stared at her, wanting to confront her about the Danny situation but she would've also tried to deny that too. Even with me bringing up Justin she still would've found a way out of that. But I know what happened and so does Justin. He was there for me when Erica should've been and that's something I can't let go of so easily.
"Yeah," I decided to reply. "Yeah we're good."
"Good because I can't run this company by myself," she chuckled.
"I'm not helping you," I said without meaning for it to come out in a mean way but I couldn't help it.
"What!? What do you mean?"
"I already told mom that I was done trying to help with the family business."
"And she was okay with that?" Erica asked because our mom isn't the easiest to persuade.
