~Justin~
It's been three months since I spoke to Adrian.
"I can't bring myself to be that close to you without thinking about what I've done to you."
"I've moved past that night, Justin," Adrian said. "I don't see that guy in you anymore."
"But that's the thing." I paused and shook my head. "You shouldn't have seen that guy in me in the first place."
The thought about reaching out to him just to see how he's doing kept crossing my mind but each time I open our messages I'm faced with two texts that he left me. I still wasn't ready to respond to those and even when we talked about it face to face I didn't give him the whole truth. The only reason why... I really don't know any other way to explain what I said to him. It's always been just sex with everyone and Adrian knew that. I knew that. But there was always something about him that made me feel different in the way I look at him. The way I touch him. The way I talk to him. And the way I think about him.
After the Valentine's Day event I stopped showing up to anything. Hangouts with Randy and Oscar I never followed through with, meet ups with Erica I barely stayed long, even parties that people I went to college with I didn't show up. How could I tell anyone about what I was feeling?
I felt my phone begin to vibrate in my hand and when I looked down at my phone I couldn't stop myself from rolling my eyes.
"Why are you calling me, Maricio," I said once I answered.
"Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed," he said.
"What do you want?"
"Why haven't you been at the last couple events? I thought you said that you were going to help out your parents with the company."
"Yeah," I said. "I changed my mind."
"That didn't last long," he said, under his breath almost like he was throwing shots at me.
"Yeah and neither did this phone call," I said, pulling my phone away from my ear.
"Justin, wait, wait, wait," he said quickly.
"Maricio-"
"I told my parents the truth."
Silence.
"What are you talking about?"
"I told my parents that you and I aren't actually friends," he clarified and I felt my blood starting to boil the more he talked. "I told them that we don't really know each other and that you were just using me to get your parents closer to them."
"What the fuck is wrong with you!?" I couldn't stop myself from snapping at him. "Why would you do that?"
"Because Justin in case you didn't know you completely ghosted me," he said. "You stopped looking my way at events, you stopped checking my socials, and you never bothered to get intimate with me."
I scoffed and rolled my eyes once again. "You're unbelievable," I said. "You did all that because I didn't want to have sex with you anymore?"
"Of course that's what you got from that."
"You said it!"
"I'm trying to say I really thought that we could be-"
"What!? Friends!?" Now I was pissed. "Maricio, I hate your guts. I hate everything about you!"
"Why!?"
"Because you kiss my parents ass thinking they're going to give their company to you!" I snapped and fuck did it feel good to finally get that off my chest. "Anything I try to do just for them to notice me, it doesn't work. Any time I try not to be an embarrassment to them, it doesn't fucking work!"
