"Sorry, I bled all over your pillow," I whispered to Dylan. He was staring at the pillow with wide eyes.
"It's umm blood. My um blood is um purple and red. I know that um-" I stuttered but was fortunately interrupted by Vanessa and Jourdan walking into the room. They both were wearing lab coats and all of the pockets were clearly filled.
"Oh my!" Vanessa mumbled when she saw the blood on the pillow, "This is exactly why I came here." Vanessa pulled out a tube-that I was assuming was my blood- and showed Dylan and Kalea.
"This is the very first blood sample I took from her. The blood only had purple specks in it when I first took the blood. However, as time passed, the purple specks soon expanded throughout her blood. We've done a series of tests and concluded that her blood will soon fully be purple," Vanessa concluded. Annabella gasped loudly and clung on to Kalea. "Does that mean that we are gonna die?" She mumbled.
"No, Bella, just go in the kitchen with my dad, " Kalea whispered to Annabella. Annabella nodded and ran out of the room. When she was gone, conversation started again.
"That's the way Annabella's blood looks, Nessa," Treyven said examining the blood closer. "Annabella cut herself mistakenly earlier and this is exactly what it looked like. I informed Dane but he said that you'll be here so I waited," Dylan and Kalea were awestruck and speechless. Dylan caressed my hand sweetly obviously worried. Feeling horrible, I brought my hand up to his strong featured face and caressed him softly with my thumb. He seemed to calm down a bit but Kalea was still shocked at the news.
"Will they be okay?" Kalea mumbled before coming to enclose me in her small, warm arms.
"We aren't completely sure what will happen when her blood turns completely purple. We'll continue to do tests on her blood though. Trust me, we're doing all that we can for our Luna and Annabella," Vanessa said giving the tube of blood to Jourdan who was staring at me sympathetically.
I felt like I was lying in my death bed. Treyven, Kalea, and Dylan were reassuring that everything would be ok, but it was clear that neither of them thought that I would be. Vanessa and Jourdan left and shut the door silently.
Dylan sighed heavily and hung his head low. He squeezed my hands tighter and his shoulders slouched. He was broken.
"Dill pickle, Cassy will be ok, she's a fighter now," Kalea whispered. She reached over to her brother's brown hair and raked her hands through it reassuringly. He didn't say anything, he just kept his head down.
Treyven took the pillow that I had bled all over and took the pillow case off of it.
You'll be ok, sweet cheeks. I believe in you. I looked up at Treyven with a smile and he winked at me before taking the pillowcase with him out of the door.
We sat in a torturous silence. Kalea continued to rake her hand through Dylan's hair who still had his head bowed down on my leg.
"I'm sorry," I mumbled.
"It's not your fault, plus you're worth it. Isn't she, Dylan?" Dylan nodded his head but his head was still bowed.
Did I deserve this? Bringing unnecessary trouble into a perfectly secure home. I glanced at both Kalea and Dylan, they once were strong and not early broken- obviously taught well by their parents. Who knew that I would be the reason that they've reached their breaking point?
"Dylan? Kal-" Dylan's mom stood in the door way analyzing what was happening.
"My children, what's wrong? Everyone is getting ready to leave," she asked, quickly making her way to the side of the bed and kneeled beside us. Dylan shifted his head away from where his mother was. I then saw something that I've never thought I would see.
The Alpha's tears.
I almost began to sob instantly at the sight. The tears streamed down his as he made no attempt to wipe them away. I never thought that I would be the reason that the Alpha cries.
"Mom, Cassandra's blood isn't... normal. Vanessa doesn't know what is happening or what is going to happen to her. We just want Cassandra to be ok," Kalea mumbled taking my hand in hers, while her other hand was now patting Dylan's shoulder. I squeezed her hand and leaned down to kiss Dylan's cheek softly.
"Don't cry," Kalea smiled whispered wiping my unknown tears away.
"Kalea and Dylan look at me," their mother demanded softly. Kalea obeyed immediately, and so did I, but Dylan stayed in the same position. Kalea sighed softly and bent down to whisper something in Dylan's ear. She wiped his tears and he turned his head towards his mom and straightened his posture but stayed kneeling next to the bed.
His mom gasped when she saw his red, puffy eyes from him crying.
"Dylan," she whispered, "You're the Alpha. It's your job to stay strong for this pack. Especially for your Luna. Cassandra is strong, you and Kalea know that very well. I am sure that Vanessa is working nonstop to figure out what's wrong with Cassandra. Hopefully... nothing is wrong with them," she said lowly. She wiped his tears away. He sniffed a little as his mom embraces him sweetly.
"Mom... I can't-" He started.
"Can't? The Alpha can do anything. Not only that but my son can do anything because that is the way we raised you," she placed a lingering kiss on Dylan's forehead. With a wistful sign, he melted into his mom's hold completely.
"Kalea, you are Dylan's support. Don't you have any faith that Cassandra is going to be okay?" She asked pulling away from Dylan.
"Yea," Kalea mumbled.
"Now... Everyone is down stairs waiting to carry out this plan of yours. The plan you both have worked so hard to come up with. Be careful and make me proud," she said kissing Dylan, then Kalea, then- surprisingly- me on the cheek. She stood and left the room without another word.
Dylan stood slowly and wiped his face to make himself presentable. I stood and pulled Kalea up on her feet with me.
"We got this," I uttered trying to encourage them the best that I could. This was the least that I could do for them. Since I was the reason that they broke, I wanted to be the reason that they will be strong again.
"Princess, be careful today. Lea, you too," Dylan said clearing his throat. Regaining his strong demeanor, he took my hands in his.
"We're gonna make sure that you are safe, Cassy," she smiled.
"Let's go," I said. Dylan nor Kalea let go of my hands until we were standing in front of the whole pack house.
