I'm so sorry it took me forever to update! I've had a half of this chapter written the day after the previous chapter came out, but it's been kind of crazy in my personal life (as always). I'm on call for work all week, so I will try to update as I can, but it may be this weekend before I can post again. I also went on a DATE this past weekend, and this guy is almost exactly how I've been writing Simon in this series, and I can't help but joke that I've "summoned my own Simon Riley."
He was so respectful and naturally protective, he's on a TAC Team unit, was previously in law enforcement, seems so protective around me naturally, wasn't on his phone ONCE throughout our date, and we spent almost NINE hours total together. We watched a movie at the theater, then sat around and talked in the parking lot forever. I didn't get home until 6am Sunday morning when I met him at 9pm Saturday evening. The only touching he did with me was gently hold my hand, and he rubs his thumb over my knuckles (almost like I've written Simon in the early chapters of this series, except he rubs his thumb over her ring finger), THEN he kissed my hand before I left. He reassures me without me having to ask for it, tells me his schedule and when he won't be around his phone, and he's actively planning time with me where our schedules don't line up. I'm convinced I'm living in a fairy tale because I've been nothing but used to toxic/abusive relationships.
Did ya girl here summon her own Simon Riley? Am I really living like Kiera?! I can't get over it.
Okay, that's all for now... Enjoy this chapter!

Simon's Point of View:
"That's Hockley's wife—"
"And why is she texting you?"
"I don't know, love, but we're about to find out," I shook my head. "They live not too far from us—"
"How did she get your number, Simon?"
"I don't know."
"Bullshit."
There she goes again. My sweet angel letting the little devil on her shoulder manipulate her into thinking that I was cheating on her. I really didn't know how Charlene got my direct phone number. The only means of communication I gave to her was my card with my office phone on it. Regardless of the truth I was telling Kiera, that little devil on her shoulder was telling her that I was lying.
"Go through my phone if you think I'm lying. I can promise you that I haven't talked to that woman other than this investigation. I don't know how she got my number, and I can promise that I didn't give it to her. But if you think I'm lying, then you're coming with me to her house to see what's going on. She's got two children who are probably wondering where their father is, if he hasn't made it back home already. You know how serious this is, love."
"Fine."
"Kiera Riley, stop letting that devil on your shoulder tell you the worst. Go through my phone if you need reassurance since you don't believe me when I tell you otherwise."
"It's not like I don't believe you, Simon—"
"Sure sounds like it. Give that number a call or just see what she says when we get there."
She huffed at my reply, and I knew I had gotten my point across. She knew the truth – she knew I wasn't hiding anything, and she also knew that she was wrong, but I wasn't going to make those thoughts in her head any worse by telling her that she was overthinking again. Instead, I was going to reassure her like I always did – to prove to her.
