Simon
I awoke the next morning to an empty bed, my brain immediately assuming the worst after the last few days, especially when the house was quiet, and Stella was missing from her bassinet.
Quickly putting on a pair of pants and a shirt, I rushed down the stairs, nearly slipping on the wooden floor due to my socks when I took a breath of relief once I saw Kiera in the kitchen toting Stella against her hip, her long hair pulled up into a messy bun while she stirred against the pan in front of her with a wooden spoon.
God, waking up to this every day is far beyond what I deserve, but I'm taking advantage of it.
"What're you doing out of bed, love?" I questioned, walking up behind her and snaking my arms around her waist before pressing a kiss to the back of her head.
"I wanted to get up and make you and the kids breakfast," She shrugged. "Since things are expected to be... back to normal."
"I can assure you that things will be back to normal," I hummed against her shoulder. "Want me to take over?" I asked, nodding towards Stella and implying that I would hold Stella so that Kiera could use both hands.
That, and Kiera and I had a subconscious competition about who cooks the most, though I'm willing to argue that I cook the best.
That's a lie. She makes the best food, but I hate that fact sometimes because I can't control myself when she makes a dinner, and I take it as a personal challenge to eat as much as I can because I can't stand the thought of her cooking going to waste.
Due to that, I would have to extend my fitness routine because that woman keeps me fed.
