Shots fired! Shots fired!
'Get out of here. Fuck everybody else. Just get out!'

Simon's Point of View:
My partner had already called in the emergency after the wreck. I was pinned in my squad car, my adrenaline preventing me from realizing that my body was hurting, but I couldn't confirm if I was injured or not. I didn't care about my well-being right now, my main concern being Kiera.
Baler had fired a shot from within the car, and I hoped and prayed that she wasn't in the line of fire. When he got out, he began to open fire on my partner who had blocked the road from oncoming traffic, darting straight into the woods.
I was desperate to fire back, but I was physically stuck in my car, unable to put my hands on the situation and address the situation myself. My partner shouted at another officer of the direction Baler went into as he had another officer doing a ride-along with him before he approached my car, desperate to get me out.
"You alright, Riley?! Talk to me, man!"
"I'm good, mate. Is she okay?!"
"She's okay. She's okay," He sighed. "Are you stuck at all?!"
"I don't think so. When they move this SUV from my car, I should be able to get out."
"Okay. Paramedics are four minutes out!"
I nodded, hearing the sirens in the distance after a minute went by, thanking God that the wreck wasn't worse than what it already was.
When I cut my car in front of the SUV and the garbage truck, the SUV hit my left rear fender, turning it sideways before it hit the garbage truck, caving the passenger side of my patrol car completely in, leaving me pinned between the front of the SUV and the garbage truck. All of the airbags deployed in both vehicles, and I was desperate to see if Kiera was okay or not as the airbags that deployed blocked my view of her.
When the ambulance and firetruck arrived, I immediately gestured for them to focus on the SUV Kiera was in first, refusing to acknowledge any help until I knew she was out of the car and being looked over.
The rescue squad ended up having to use the Jaws of Life to pry my door loose to free me of my bind, and thankfully, I was uninjured except for minor scrapes and cuts as well as some tears in my uniform. I walked with a slight limp, but I continued to ignore the pain I was feeling as I rushed to the ambulance that Kiera was in, my heart breaking when I saw her with a brace on her neck as she was strapped to a stretcher.
"Talk to me, love," I sighed, sitting down next to her as I watched the paramedic do his job by placing little monitors along her chest to check on her heart rate. "Are you hurt?"
"N-No," She panted, her lip trembling with adrenaline. "Just a few scrapes and bruises,"
Thank God.
"What about you, Simon?"
"Don't worry about me, love. I'm up and walking."
"I-I don't know what caused this to happen, Simon, I—"
"Let's not worry about that right now," I cut her off. "They're going to look you over and make sure you're okay."
"Blood pressure is good, heart rate is good," The paramedic informed me. "You're both lucky you didn't get any major injuries. The most she has is a cut on her right arm, but it's not deep enough to need stitches."
