Lilith took a deep breath while the nun treats her deep wounds. Xavier couldn't help but worry about her condition. It was the first time he had seen her collapse due to the struggle. The girl tightly gripped the thin blanket. With closed eyes, beads of sweat forming on her face were visible. He couldn't help but feel the pain she was going through as the nun removed the piece of metal embedded in her arm.

"I got it," she said.

"I had to ruin everything they had," the girl said in anguish. "It's not good to be hit by a stray bullet."

She took a thin cloth and immediately placed it on her face. She slowly turned to him. Full of concern, he wiped the sweat off her face and also noticed how quickly she avoided eye contact with him.

"The way you look at me, it's like I'm about to die."

"Don't joke like that, Lilith. Don't you know how worried I was when I saw you in your room?"

"Don't worry, I won't die just like that."

"But what if I didn't arrive that night? What about you?" He hissed. "The next time this happens, come to this place. You're safe here and they will help you."

"I don't need-"

"That's enough!" he interjected. Even the nun beside them was startled by his sudden outburst.

The girl's eyebrows furrowed as she turned to him.

"How long are you going to be stubborn, Lilith? Will your pride be hurt too much if you ask for help from others?"

"Did I say I nee-"

"Do you want me to just leave you alone even though I can help you?" The girl couldn't manage to interrupt him with each word he uttered. The frustration was evident on her face because of his interruption. He harshly ran his fingers through his hair and stood up from her seat.

He couldn't help but feel annoyed. Even in such a situation, the girl remained stubborn towards him and closed off to any form of help.

"Please continue with what you're doing," he said, trying to calm himself in front of the nun. The nun just gently nodded at him and placed her open palm on the girl's wound.

When the nun's palm brightened and it was seen that the girl's wound was healing, he turned away and started to walk away. Even some onlookers around them returned to their activities. He distanced himself from Lilith's location and chose to pass the time near the window.

"She's so stubborn," he sighed with a slump of his shoulders.

The girl's world had closed off to other people. Her loving eyes turned into a deadly sharp stare every time he offered help. Reality had changed her, seemingly killing off her former self. He wanted to rescue her from her closed-off world as much as possible. Something he hadn't been able to do for the people he loved eight years ago.
