Chapter 93: The key

Rick and Michonne finally arrived at the Hilltop.

Everyone welcomed the couple. But not very happily considering what had happened the night before and what they have lost.

Athena heard that her father, Leo and Rick were out again, being lookouts for Maggie. But to be truthful the Dixon girl didn't really cared about what they were doing, because she had other more important things to do.

She found a quiet place behind the palace and near the pens with the Saviors.

She was sitting on a bench, clutching something very important in her hands. Something that will change her view about a lot of things.

Carl's letter.

The young boy's last words towards the Dixon girl, were written in a letter that was specifically for her.

Athena built up her courage, swallowed her tears and finally opened the letter.

Athena,

I'm writing this to you, so you know how much I love you and how much you meant for me. How much I looked up to you. I always thought that you were the bravest person I have ever met. You are the strongest person I know. You never showed any kind of weakness and I always found that remarkable.

I remember when I first met you. You came back from Atlanta with my dad, and I remember the happiness you hold in your eyes as you saw Leo, Blake, Chris and Minho, alive and well. Then I remember when you saw Daryl. I remember how happy he was to find out that you were alive and back in his arms. That was maybe the first time, I've seen Daryl this happy.
