The Plot In You- Time Changes Everything

"I heard you scream. I almost went back," Noah pushes my hair out of my face. "You still came up here knowing that thing is in there?"

"Your necklace protected me," I cover myself with his blanket. "That was terrifying,"

"Yeah, I've never seen spirits like these before," he moves to sit behind me to keep the blanket around me. "We have to go back up there tonight,"

"I know," I groan leaning back against him. "Give me like ten minutes,"

Goosebumps rise on my skin when he nips at my ear.

"It gets easier after that first encounter," he whispers.

"It ran off when it saw my necklace,"

"Yeah, they don't get close to me either,"

"She crawled over me. Her body moved-" I shiver leaning back against him. He chuckles pressing a kiss to my temple.

"Yeah, the first time I ever saw one was a wailing woman. I cried every time I had to walk into my room. My dad would tell me there was nothing there. My ears bled from her begging me to help her," he says quietly. I turn around cupping his face.

"Now you have to put up with me yelling at you for all eternity," I shrug. He laughs pulling me closer to kiss me.

"We should get going before I make you wailing woman," he pokes my side. "I'll go first,"

"Okay," I agree without hesitation. He laughs and stands on his bed.

There isn't a single scratch on him. The medical team is saying that the vampire killed himself in a rampage. There was a cut in the target's right hand. The blood on the glass and the blood in the vent were all the target's. When I reported the ghoul, it scared a lot of the guards and some of the custodians. He made it look like a suicide after an attempted escape. They're common here because of the ghouls.

Noah pulls me up without a struggle. The two of us make our way down to the lower levels. Several times, I felt like something was watching us. I'd jump when I heard the sick sound of cracking bones. Shadows dance all around us. I've been in here a few times and never noticed things until now.

Noah didn't even bat an eye. When we got to the new level, we had to cover up a lot better because there were still teams here cleaning up and tending to the vamps stuck in the ice. A lot of the inmates who were frozen here didn't wake up. The bodies were taken up to the incinerator where it would be decided if they were going to be sent to their immediate families or burned.

"How did you do it?" I ask Noah when we get to the file room so he can get what he needs for Carson.

"What?" he asks shutting the door behind us. I toss him my extra flashlight and sit on one of the desks.

"How did you make it look like he killed himself?"

"I-" he pauses and looks back at me. "I didn't. I sent the spirit,"

"What?" what the fuck does that mean? He smiles.

"I've never killed someone with my hands, Gaz. I can make them do it for me. I provide a tether. In this case, it was the blade you made for me. I gave it to the woman. Her name is Anastasia. She was a vampire. Died here in fourteen oh six. She has two hundred and sixty more years before he soul is released,"

"You just ask them?"

"No, I make them. You know how they can possess someone? I can take over their spirit," his eyes pale before returning to the mismatched colors.
