Scary Kids, Scaring Kids ft. Noah Sebastian- The Dark
Noah slept for eighteen hours straight. He didn't make a sound. I had to go into his room to make sure he was breathing a couple of times. I cleaned everything up and I even got him a sectional for his living room. A lot of the trash on the floor were his notes on old cases. I put the ones that were labeled and dated the same together and put them in the file cabinets in alphabetical order.
When he finally emerges from his room, I'm in the middle of a meeting with the board of directors to inform them that we will be merging with Vermillion. They're not too happy about it. Shit, I'm not happy about it myself, but I already struck a deal and I'm going to have to pay my end of it.
"Is this still my house?" he asks rubbing his eyes. I try my best not to notice how his sleepy voice affects me. I put my index finger to my lips. I finish the meeting and start to put my laptop away while he freshens up. "Um," he comes out, dressed in jeans and a t-shirt. Hair still wet from his shower. "Was that a dream?"
"Uh, depends on what you're referring to?"
"A woman. A very beautiful one. She took Nat and Sophie away. She said they were going to a better place and this skeleton took them,"
"No, that wasn't a dream. That was Merciful Death," I stand up. "Belladonna Blackstone. The Queen Reaper,"
"You called a reaper?"
"Yeah," I clear my throat preparing myself for his anger.
"And what happens to them?"
"I don't know. They go to the next place. Heaven. I doubt there's any reason for Natalia to go anywhere else,"
"You saw her?"
"She stopped me from leaving,"
I can't even look at him. Not because it hurts me but because I don't know how he's going to react to this. I cleansed his home of the spirits that haunted him. Natalie and his daughter. A daughter he never got to hold. He sits on the black sectional and rubs his eyes again.
"How long was I asleep for?"
"A little over eighteen hours. I made lasagna if you're hungry," I slip my shoes on. "You owe me for a few things,"
"Sure," he nods. "Uh, thank you for cleaning up. You didn't need to do that,"
"I didn't have anything else to do," I finish putting my things away. I crouch down in front of him and place my hand on his. "I have to go and help Zuri at the bookstore. She needs training and until my assistant gets back from his honeymoon, I have to be the one that does it. If you need anything else from me, you can call. I put my number in your phone under Gaz. I just wanted to make sure you were okay,"
"Gaz," he grabs my wrist when I try to pull away. He looks a lot better after having slept for so long.
"I get it. I mean I don't get it, but I understand,"
"I'm not letting you go. I never have. Gaz, you need to get the fuck out of here. These people will never have your best interest at heart. Not even your mother. The coven is always going to come first. With you gone, they control everything. I rather spend the rest of my life in this empty house than see them destroy you more than they already have,"
"Noah, what are you talking about?"
"Noah," someone knocks on the door. He looks over at it and then at me.
"Please, I know I don't deserve for you to trust me, Gaz. I promise it's for your good. Don't trust anyone," he stands up. He grabs my laptop carrier and my bag. "Get the fuck out of my house," he says ripping the door open. Spencer and another man are standing in the doorway. "Now,"
