The Plot In You- Disposable Fix
"You have been staring at nothing throughout this whole movie," Noah interrupts my train of thought. I blink the dryness out of my eyes and turn my attention to him. "Do you do that a lot? Is that normal for you?"
"I don't usually have anyone to stop me," I say and reach for my laptop. "What are we watching?"
"We? We watched nothing. I just finished watching Rosemary's Baby. I found it in the cupboard by the chimney."
"That was my grandma's favorite. She was into the omen and the exorcist. Those should be in there as well,"
"What were you thinking about so hard?"
"You won't judge me?"
"I will always judge you," he smiles. "That's a promise,"
"Okay," I laugh. "It's just that I've been monitoring B.B.'s movement through the Fringe database and a bunch of this shit just doesn't add up. She is moving fast and not just in the Fringe. She's got the Hunters on the run. She's going full-time to one of the most demanding schools in the world. She's working for one of the biggest tech companies in the world. And she's recruiting like crazy. How the fuck does she have time to do all that and plan her pregnancy,"
"She has six mates. I doubt it was planned,"
"Nah, you don't know this girl. Nothing she does is accidental. This kid keeps a schedule for everything. There is no chance in hell that it happened accidentally. It's like she's in serval places at once," I sit back and sort through the numbers on the flash drive my mom had in the puzzle box. "Come here. What do you think these are?" I wave him over. "I thought they were accounts but nothing is coming up,"
"Let me see," he takes the laptop and slides in next to me. He looks over at me and stares hard for a moment before he highlights one of the numbers and brings up a different webpage. "This is untraceable, right?"
"Yeah,"
"Okay, because I could get fired for this,"
"I think that's redundant. You're going to be charged with the rest of the coven at the end of this," I shrug.
"Are you serious?" he all but shouts at me.
"Yeah, everyone is going to stand trial. Those are the rules of the Council. If they don't want to be shut down by the Fringe, everyone has to tell their story so that we know who to remove," his reaction is funny to me.
"Fuck," he groans and continues to do whatever he was doing. "They're coven inmates,"
A file pops up on the screen. Harriet Saelik. I take the laptop from him and run the name through the Fringe database. Her file comes up and it says she's been dead for over fifty years.
"Deceased,"
"Nope. Very much alive. I know her. When I was a guard, I also worked at the prison. She's a cook. I used to sneak her herbs,"
"That's a cute story," I smile. "Okay, so these inmates are here. Why? What are their offenses?"
"Involuntary manslaughter. She was accused of running her little brother over when she was nineteen while under the influence,"
"What the fuck? Try the next one,"
"Jerome Whitaker. Arson and two counts of murder. It says he set his house on fire with his wife and son inside,"
"Also deceased in the Fringe database," I place the laptop on the coffee table. "My mother was already general when they were arrested,"
"You're not thinking she did these, are you?"
