Elderbrook- How Many Times

This place is not what I expected. For some reason, I thought they would have better security. Some kind of surveillance and watch towers. I could get in and out of here without my magic, without a problem. The wards and restrictions are all specific to the inmates. It makes me think of everything I've learned since having my magic taken away. I learned to live without it. Even without my magic, I'm still kind of a badass.

The lower levels are the worst. Triple S rank inmates include Lycans. Not like Lucas here. These are the ones that mortals are afraid of. The half men half beast monsters that like to eat the insides of mortals. There are high-level vampires. I don't know what is growling behind one of the doors but it sounds angry. Some of the cells are made of some elven glass. Behind one of them is what looks like a nine-year-old elven girl.

"That's Aenaeza. Third Elvia Princess of the Elves. She tried to murder her eldest brother for the throne. The only reason he's alive is because their baby sister turned her in. That family is a fucking disaster," Lucas waves at her. She bares her teeth at him.

"Dude, she is so cute," I shake my head. She puts her teeth away and places her hand on the glass. She looks like a child with her big cute chubby cheeks and snow white hair, but those eyes. There's no mistaking her for the little beast that she is. "B.B. is going to love shopping out of this shit hole,"

"You think she'll buy some of these assholes?"

"Do you think if I ask her for the Elvia Princess, she'll buy her for me?" I ask. He grins and stops at the top of the metal stairs that leads down to the ice.

"Cody said you had a mouth on you," he motions the ice that covers up to the last couple of steps.

I step out onto the ice and walk to the center. I look up at the skylight. I remove my gloves. I press my fingertips against the ice. I reach out to the electrical system down there. It's surprisingly in good shape for being frozen. I push some of the reserved energy and the lights below start to turn on one by one. I prepare myself in case there's something scary frozen under me.

"Holy shit," Lucas says from above.

The ice is crystal clear. I smile finding that there is nothing scary down there. It's eerie and kind of terrifying like the rest of this place.

"How many floors down?" I ask.

"Eight,"

"Aww," I groan.

"What?" he laughs.

"I'm going to have to go up each floor to put up protective wards so I don't steam the inmates,"

It's a lie. Of course, it is. I just need to find our targets and I am going to feel terrible about this later but I feel like Lucas is going to spill this place's secrets for me. Even if he suspects me of it, there isn't much he can do. I am going to chalk this up to me moving through floors for the wards. Check me out. Day one and I am killing it.

Unholy shit, I think I'm going to die here.

I slip my gloves back on and release the energy. The sparks come back to me as I make my way back to the stairs. Lucas watches me as I blow into my gloved hands to warm them up. He shakes his head. When I look up the little Elven princess is smiling back at me. She waves her little fingers.

"You cannot let that thing out of here," he shakes his head.

"Tell me more about them," I say taking my magic marker out of my back pocket.

"What's that?" he asks.

"I put my warding potions in a marker. Super convenient. This way I don't have to carve into anything and it's washable. We can remove them with a quick hose down or a quick wipe,"
