Too Close To Touch- Pick Me Up
"This is not as bad as I thought it would be," Noah says as I put the empty Chinese food take-out containers into a plastic bag. "We should watch yours,"
"Mine?"
"You're cooking show. You got two seasons of The Witch's Cauldron with Gastly Taylor. I want to see what you were eating away from here,"
"It's girly. You're not going to like it," I wave him off.
"Is it roaches, Gaz?" he smirks.
"No, but I did try bugs. A few different ones," I laugh as I take the trash to the bin in the kitchen. "Not as gross as it sounds,"
"We have to watch it," he insists.
"Fine. Do you have the app?"
"What app?"
"The Witch's Brew App. It's the only place it streams now,"
"You stream your stuff on your own app?"
"I stream every show and movie our studio has produced on it,"
"Wait, when I asked you what you did, you never told me you had your own streaming service,"
"Because I don't do that. I pay people for that. I answered you what I did directly. Beverly and Lucien Daniels run that part of the app. I don't know anything about that. I fund it. Well, it kind of funds itself now,"
"What does Cody do?"
"Cody runs transportation. Violet does the gaming tech and digital designs. She is really excited to get her hands on the Vermillion stuff. Verona does art and animations. She's working with B.B.'s pet vampire Dylan,"
"Are you upset that you have to work for B.B. now?" he asks gently.
I sit back and let the words hang for a moment just to mess with him. I've had time to wrap my mind around it. The way I see it is, B.B. is now in charge of it all. I have time to try and prevent what happened to me to other witches. I want to look into why Marianne put those people in prison and if their allegations are even true. There is so much more I can do outside of my office now that I've got my magic back.
"No," I say truthfully. "I started the Witch's Brew Company because I wanted to contribute to our kind in any way I could. If I couldn't be the storm anymore, I didn't want to be known for just betraying my coven.
"Mortal Gaz got that. Everything she ever wanted, she got. I'm not sure what would have become of me if my magic hadn't been taken away, but you're probably right. I don't think it would have been good. Rose wouldn't have wanted that to become her legacy. So, maybe I can try using my magic for something good.
"Ahsan has a good head on his shoulders. He's weird with the dad jokes, but he's a cool kid. I think it'll be worth following these kids. They're little shits but they're going really good stuff for all of us,"
"What made you change your mind?" he smiles.
"Okay, don't laugh,"
"I'm already laughing," he grins.
"Okay, twelve years ago, when I first moved to Hellbourne. That place was a shit hole. I mean it was bad. It looked like a country at war. Now it's a fucking paradise. I shit you not, Noah. It's beautiful.
"It was like falling into Stepford with a futuristic twist. I want that here. I want that everywhere. For all witches. If she can get us there, I'd smite whoever she pointed at with her perfect, perfect hands,"
