Chiodos- I Didn't Say I Was Powerful, I Said I Was A Wizard
Joana Lumen is kind of a bitch and as far as mother-in-laws go, I can already tell she's going to be a nightmare. I am standing outside waiting for her to finish fixing her parka. The fur hat on her head makes me want to punch her already.
"Gastly," she greets me.
"I know," Raen says looking back at the entrance. "It's old,"
"Ariana," I hold my hand out for her to take. She grins and nods. "It's an honor to meet you, Supreme Lumen. I have something for you. A gift of sorts, before you start your interrogation,"
"A gift?" she asks taking it. "For me?"
"And Mr. Patterson. A token of his mate's appreciation," I smile tightly. She nods and motions us to lead the way.
For the first time ever, I see it. They have the same fucking evil smirk. She starts to open the envelope with all the evidence that proves that Noah is not only her son but also the son of the mage king.
Noah's heritage is harsh. Half white magic, half black magic. While they can often be one and the same, they're very different. It's why the spirit in him tears him apart the way it does. By the time we get to the interrogation suite, if that's what they're calling it. It looks more like a dungeon to me, she's gone stiff. I stand in front of the door and wait for her to finish looking over the documents in her hands.
"Is this true?" she asks. I look up at her to see her eyes are filled with tears. "Does he know?"
"He knew from the moment the two of you met," I nod. "He just didn't think you'd take his word for it. He's like that. We've spent too long lying to one another. Words kind of lose their meaning a while,"
Her eyes flutter for a moment and she places her hand on the wall next to me to catch her breath. The way she's looming over me is familiar. Except Noah is usually pissed when he crowds me like this and right now, she's just upset. I reach up to catch one of her tears with my knuckle. Her eyes come up to mine. Her eyes are a beautiful swirl of lime green and gold.
"Oh, pardon me," Raen spins around when she finally catches up. Joana pulls away to piece herself back together and I press my lips together trying not to laugh.
"Forgive me, Ariana," she clears her throat.
"Any time, your grace. I'm but a humble servant," I smirk. She looks over at me with a glare. Raen giggles silently. "Mr. Patterson waits," I open the door for her. She takes a deep breath and steps inside. "Raen?"
"Oh, no. Not me," she holds up her hands shaking them. "The warden said not to leave her side for a moment. Use force against anyone if you must,"
"Thanks, Raen. Wish me luck,"
"Good luck, Ari," she smiles. I step inside and take my seat next to Joana.
There's a wooden table in front of us. In the center is an iron restraining lever. We're surrounded by stone walls. The old wooden chairs look breakable but the table is immaculate. I can feel the enchantment on it.
"How has he survived with all the power inside of him?" she whispers.
"I take a lot of it. The storm loves it. The part of him that drained into me when we bonded the first time was sealed away by the coven when I was sentenced. I'm going to need help once he's released from here," I say lifting the iron lever.
"And his divinity?"
"You can see it in our eyes," I turn my head so she can see it. The way she looks at them hurts.
