RUFUS DU SOL- On My Knees

Elvia and Zuri instantly became best friends as we walk through the old bookstore. I listen to them talk about the possibilities. Thank goodness she showed up when she did with some of Hellbourne's finest weed. I really need to stop feeling all of this. I can't believe I've been sober all this time.

I sit outside letting them have their moment while I try to drown out all of the buzzing in my head. The rain has stopped thanks to some of the journals I found on my Grandmother's bookshelves. It's not exactly training but it's better than nothing. The sky is still dark gray and until my mood improves, it's going to remain that way.

"You know it's unethical to smoke weed on the sidewalk," Spencer approaches me. I smile looking over at him. "It's not illegal anymore but families come through here," he sits down next to me. I offer him the blunt and he takes it. "Thank you,"

"Do as I say not as I do, Spence?" I smirk when he blows out a heavy cloud.

"Exactly," he grins. "You know, my mate is the only one that calls me Spence. She says it's because I'm too serious all the time,"

"You?" I laugh. We both look up when a sunbeam breaks through to shine on us. "That is what you are. A fucking light," I smile at him. "She is trippin if she thinks you're serious,"

"You are the first person to ever say that to me," he admits. "I can be a serious guy. I just don't feel like I need to be around you. You have this river-like aura. Rivers are my favorite bodies of water because I can visit one all the fucking time and it'll never be the same every time,"

"Wow, is that a compliment?"

"Yes," he nods.

"That is the nicest compliment I've ever received in my entire life. Next to, the sound of your voice quiets the screaming in my head," I admit.

"Hmm, who said that to you?" he smiles.

"Noah," I answer.

"You were in love with a human, right? I'm sure he complimented you,"

"Being told you're pretty by a mortal is kind of lame. Supernaturals are all beautiful to them. He used to compliment my power and when it was gone so were those compliments," I shrug and take a huge hit of the blunt. "Is our meeting here a coincidence?"

"I knew you'd be here," he shakes his head. "I know where you always are. You're the storm and the storm always brings water,"

"Oh, you just got a little creepy," I laugh. He grins.

"Same thing Gabriela always says,"

"Is this that her name?" I ask. He nods. "What's she like?"

"Sassy, sexy, and stubborn. I fucking love her to death. She's a vampire, before that she was like Noah. She couldn't handle the spirit. Becoming a vampire made her a lot more obsessed with me. I love that, but I miss when she was just Gabby,"

"What can I help you with, Spencer?" I ask.

"It's none of my business, Gastly. But Noah is my best friend. I get what he did to you was wrong. What they all did, but if you break your connection, Noah will have nothing. No one. I hate to say but I'm not enough for him. He's my brother and I know he loves me but the only thing keeping him going is knowing that you're out there living your life.

"I'm not asking you to forgive him. I'm not asking you to accept him. I just don't want to lose my only family outside of Gabby. I haven't seen him since you kicked us out of your house. He's home, but he's just there," he places a piece of paper in my hand. "Maybe ask him what he went through after you left. Ask him about Natalie,"
