Vera Elle Volant
I took off my headphones as I walked towards the window. I stared out seeing tress surrounded by trees and you guessed it....MORE TREES.
It's not too bad I mean I have the room downstairs. Not because I wanted it. But because they treat me like a doll.
A very fragile...breakable doll.
When I heard they wanted to move after the news I got, I knew it wasn't because of my dad wanting a new "scenery".
But because of my stupid Leukemia.
As soon as we walked into the house they automatically assigned me the room closest so I wouldn't walk so far. While they all sleep upstairs in the luxurious big rooms. I mean my room does have a mini library so I won't complain.... too much.
I decided to finally get up and be "productive" since my mom's finally back from her business trip.
The door creaked as I slightly cracked it open.
"Wow look who's out of their cave! "
I looked at my dad rolling my eyes as both my parents began staring at me. The infamous Cole and Stella Volant are my dear old parents. They've been secretive lately possibly more than ever.
I gave him a taunting smile as I groaned. "You sleep okay?"
My mom asks me everyday since I got the news.
"Yes the best I can get mom," I cheered sarcastically. She looked away as I sat on the stool closest. "Can you do me a favor?"
"Depends Mother do I have to be close to Landon for this favor?" "What's wrong with him?" My mom questioned as she turned to look at me as she raised her eyebrow.
"He's such a dick if you hadn't noticed." "Language!" "Yeah yeah sorry dad."
"No.. you don't have to be close to Landon but you do need to patch things up with him. Anyways I need you to run down to the store for me."
"Ughh I actually have to go out ?" She instantly looked at me giving me a stern look as I huffed.
"I just need my coat." Vera muttered under breathe as her mom responded with a smile and head nod.
I walked back into my room as I picked up a fluffy coat. "So whatcha need to buy?"
"Here's a list of things and please no extra stuff." I looked at her as I smiled. "Of course." My dad looked at me as he winked. My mom's all about being healthy and being balanced. But hey I do like it sometimes and other times I just want some chocolate .
"One question....Where exactly do I go?"
"There's a small grocery store a few miles downtown take your car." I groaned knowing I'll have to get gas. "Finee only cause I'm so nice."I groaned as I walked towards the door.
"AND BECAUSE YOU LOVE ME," she yelled out before I closed the door. I could hear her laughs from outside. I couldn't help but chuckle at her small comments. I looked at the driveway seeing Landon's car still here but my parent's weren't. Idiot. Ever since I got sick he's been a real douche-bag. I just ignore him sometimes maybe even a little smack here and there. I drove for a while until I saw a big sign reading, "Lahote's Market". I parked in the front as I got out.
"Good morning there." I was greeted by a mild aged man. I smiled as I grabbed a cart. I pushed it down the aisles as I grabbed some things from the canned food aisle. "I'm fine Paul you don't need to come. I'm here helping your dad. Plus I need something to distract myself."
