Vera Elle Volant

"Hey Em could you hand me my bag please!"

I watched as she entered the guest room while I stood near the door. "What for?"

She said peeking her head out.

"Well I need to do some things back home and I.... just miss it," I said as she came out of the room holding my bag.

 "Are you sure? You know you're always welcomed to stay, V."

I smiled as she placed the bag on the table.

"Yeah, I just think it's time things go back to normal and I can't do that if I'm not home, or if he isn't even coming back," I said whispering the last part.

 "Vera he will show up. This is just how he copes. Which is a really bad coping mechanism," she chuckled trying to bring me some ease. I smiled as I grabbed my bag.

"We'll see," I said reaching for the door.

+++++++++++

I walked inside as I went straight for the room. I looked over the bed as it looked cold; sitting down I patted the bed. I laid back as I reached for the blanket folding it over one more time.

I laid there for what felt like an hour but really was 15 minutes.

It'll nearly be a month at this rate of him being away. It's weird to think just a few weeks ago we were getting our lives together and living happily in this home. And now it's just me.

I got up grabbing my clothes to change into before I showered. I turned on the hot water as the house was freezing. Walking down the stairs I quickly turned on the heater as I walked back upstairs entering the shower.

I let my hands touch the hot steaming water before I could put my whole body under the water. The steam relaxed my body as I slowly hurried up.

I came out as I changed into some soft comfy shorts and a slim long sleeve. I kept the towel wrapped over my head as I walked back inside the room quickly ruffing up my hair as I walked over to hang it back up.

As I walked back inside the room something didn't feel quite the same. I thought with turning on the heater and taking a long shower the house would definitely get much warmer. I flipped the lights on in the room as I walked in farther this time. I jumped as I watched the curtains flap around, as the balcony doors were now wide open.

Jesus how could I forget to lock the doors? I mean with all this wind I wouldn't be surprised if they were open earlier. I walked towards the balcony as I paused. Something didn't feel right.

I stepped back now standing in front of the balcony from inside the room. I looked up as a shadow appeared. "W-Who's there?" I nervously said as I got closer reaching for the door handle. Before I could close the door I watched as he stepped in front of me.
