"We should probably go downstairs," I mumbled as I tried waking up Jacob.

"Or we can stay here in my room forever," he mumbled back as he kissed my neck. "Stop that tickles!" "Yeah I know,"he whispered as he continued.
"I'm gonna punch you Jacob Black!" "You wouldn't dare Vera Volant!" He teased back as I tried reaching for the pillow behind him.

I got closer to his face as it looked like if I was leaning for a kiss. Before our lips could touch I whispered, "You forgot the Elle." I quickly grabbed the pillow as I hit him. "OW! I really thought you were gonna kiss me," he said offended as I got up. "You thought wrong," I teased.

"Now come on let's go!"

I quickly walked down the stairs as I saw Billy cleaning up. I walked towards the trash can as I began tying it up. "Whatcha got there Vera?"
"I saw you looking at it and I thought I'd be useful and help since you never let me!" He smiled as he nodded. "Go ahead kid knock yourself out."

I nodded as I picked up the bag. The sound of footsteps got louder as I expected to see Jacob. "Oh hey Vera." "Hi Rachel," I said smiling as I quickly turned around. "Hey I'll accompany you to take out the...trash." "Great." I turned the doorknob as I began walking down the driveway. Lifting up the lid I could feel her eyes piercing at my back. I dusted myself off as I turned to look at her.

"So Rachel I wanted to talk to you about something."

"Oh how funny I do too!" "Look I don't know how things between us got weird but I want to start with a clean slate and no drama, because I do like Jacob." "About Jacob I'm gonna need you to do something for me. Well not just me it's for Jacob too." "What do you mean?"

"Look here's what's gonna happen, I'll give you..hmm a week because I'm generous. A week for you to break up with him. You can come up with your own little story even." "W-What? What makes you think I will?" I felt the air shift as I stood there confused out of my mind.

She instantly brought her hand up as she slapped me. Hard. "Because I know your secret. I can't believe you." I felt my eyes tear up not just because of the sting coming from my right cheek but because the thought of him finding out my secret is too much for me.

"My brother told me that he told you about our mother's death. He talks so highly of you that I couldn't believe you were holding that secret.  After everything he's been through you didn't even think about how it'll affect him."

I felt the cold December air hit my face as more tears fell down my face.
I didn't even think about his mother. How could I've been so stupid.
How could I been so selfish?

"Our mother died and he blames himself constantly and now this girl with cancer comes into his life and falls in love with him? A week or I tell him and you better not be around when I do, because at the end of the day you'll just be a burden for him.....For all of us."

She turned on her heels as she walked inside. I felt my head fall down as I sniffled. The sound of the door opening hit my ears as I looked up. I quickly wiped my tears as I tried to compose myself.

"Hey....Hey what's wrong?" I pulled myself together as I looked up and smiled at Jacob. "Sorry allergies!" He instantly came into my side as he hugged me. "Well let's go inside it's cold out here. Well at least for you," he chuckled as he began walking.

"A-Actually I think I'm gonna go home, Im getting pretty tired and it's also kinda late."

"You sure? You could spend the night," he suggested as he smiled. I nodded, "Its okay I'll see you." He got closer as he held my face. I quickly hugged him instead as he reciprocated the embrace. "Bye."

"Be careful."

"How long has it been since you went out with Jacob Sweetie?"

"O-Oh it's only been 4 days," I said as I bit into my waffles. "How come? You guys are like glued to the hip."
She laughed as I looked up at her. "Oh nothing just you know we're both busy with work."

"Oh yeah your dad's been mentioning you guys need to go out." "Yeah it's like ever since we moved here I haven't actually talked to him."
"Well you know your dad busy with work is all." I nodded as I grabbed my plate placing it in the sink. "Are you showing a house today?"

"Actually yes you know those cabins I've been talking about near the reservation?" "Mmhm."

"Well some of them actually have two floors which are so beautiful. I mean god the views and windows make me wanna move over there."

"God no mom I'm just getting comfy here!" She laughed as she grabbed her purse, "Come on I'm kidding...well." "MOM!" "Kidding!"
She walked up to me as she kissed my head. "Have you talked with your doctor?"

"Yeah and we've been maybe talking about treatments. BUT don't get too excited!"
She smiled as she looked at me from the door, "Ok honey!" I gave her a faint smile as she closed the door behind her.

"You actually have?"

I looked up at the stairs to see Landon leaning on the railing.

"Yeah. Just talking a little about it."
