Vera Elle Volant

"What about this one?"I said handing the cute yellow dress to Emily. "She wants blue,"Em rolled her eyes as she looked down at Ella. Emily told me that in order to welcome Ella to her new class there having a daddy-daughter dance and so now were just shopping for dresses. And I really need a good distraction. I haven't been really talking to my mom that much.

"Hey Elle are you feeling any better?"

"Y-Yeah why do you ask?" I looked over at Emily as she put a dress back. "Well you seem pretty sick." "Im feeling better I've been taking medicine." She smiled back at me as she pulled out a baby blue dress. "I need to introduce you to Aria." As she spoke she looked almost regretful at her words.

"Who's that?" "O-Oh shes a friend of Jake's and well shes closer to us now....Family," She said smiling. Friend of Jake's?

"Y-Yeah I'd like to meet her," I replied smiling. A hint of jealousy hit my face. "I think this is the one." I nodded as Ella crashed onto my legs. I looked down as she motioned up.
"I think someone wants to get carried,"I said bending down to pick her up. She smiled as I held her up. "Let's go."

I followed Em to the car as she put our bags in the trunk.

Emily's phone kept ringing for awhile. "Something important?" She finally grabbed her phone as she read the text messages.

"Well would you look at that seems like Arabella's coming over."

"Aria?"

"Yeah." I began getting nervous at the thought of meeting one of Jake's girl-friends.
"Aria!"repeated Ella. She cheered in the backseat as we arrived to her house. "I'll get the bags."

As I grabbed our shopping bags I realized there was a girl figuire by the door waiting for us. I slowly made my way towards them as I looked at the girl. She looked oddly familiar. She instantly made eye contact with me as she examined me. 

"Wait your the girl from the store?"She suddenly blurted out.. I nodded slowly giving her a small smile.

"Wait I'm so sorry that sounded rude..Im Aria!"she extended her arm as I slightly shook it. "Im Vera." "Sam's niece right?" "Yup." "Nice to meet you." "Nice to meet you too,"I responded as we walked into Emily's house. As I looked over at her she looked worried almost concerned for our interaction. We walked inside sitting at the dining room table.

"How's it going?"asked Emily. "well I'm hanging in there Paul keeps insisting I stay home but I hate it. He dosen't even know I'm here right now,"spoke Aria. "Yeah Sam was the same but I eventually convinced him to relax,"chuckled Emily. I realized they were talking about there kids. Glad I don't have that problem.

As they began talking I suddenly began coughing....bad. I got up as I reached for a bottle of water. "Are you okay Elle?" "Y-Yeah yeah sorry." they continued talking as I looked down at my hand. I hovered over the sink as I stared at my bloody hand. Fuck.

I quickly washed it away as I grabbbed some soap. Slowly drinking my water I popped a piece of gum in my mouth. I slowly began walking back to my chair making sure my face was clean. "Vera how are you enjoying it here? Jake told me you just moved a month ago." 

"Oh I think it's pretty nice."

"That's good." "I forgot to ask do you have any plans for tomorrow?" I began thinking realizing tomorrow was the day jacob said he'd take me to see the meadow. "Jacob invited me to go out tomorrow." Emily and Aria both smiled at each other as I stayed there confused. "W-What's wrong?"

"O-Oh nothing its just you never know." "He has a type,"winked Aria. "O-Oh no its not like that were just getting to know each other.....as friends,"I awkwardly added. Aria smiled at me as she nodded.

"I said the same thing with Paul and look at me now. Pregnant with his big old baby." "Is Paul also Sam's friend?" "Yeah." Emily sort of frowned at Aria's response as I played with my necklace. I heard a door slam shut. "Is that Paul?" said Aria annoyed. Emily got up slightly opening the curtain.

"Yup."

Aria groaned as she laid her head down. I smiled at her antics as she smiled back. The door opend wide as "Paul" barged in. "Ari--" His eyes immediately landed on mine as he examined my face. "This is Vera my new friend." "H-Hi." I said slightly waving at the tall guy. "H-Hi...I'm Paul."

"Jesus Paul what's wrong with you?" teased Aria as she slapped his back. "Oww!" she laughed. "You could've told me you wanted to visit Emily."
"Yeah and you wouldn't have wanted me to come right back home,"replied Aria nonchalantly. He sat next to her as his eyes gazed mine again.

Jesus does he have some sort of staring problem?

"So Vera what do you think about your old uncle Sam's tales?"
"The shifting ones that hes always rambling about?" "Yup those ones."I chuckled a little knowing my Uncle Sam would give any excuse to tell those stories to me. "Well I think I'd be kind of cool to be a wolf or whatever but it's a big secret to keep." "Mmhmm."

"Luckily they're just stories I bet people would be afraid of them if they were really that big." She smiled at me as Paul stood up.
"well looks like its time to go." "What? No!" "You have that appointment remember." "Ohh yeahh I thought I was forgetting something."

"See shes always making me sound like I'm keeping her prisoner." I laughed with Emily as Aria slowly got up. "Well nice to meet you, Vera." I shook his hand as aria stepped up. She instantly hugged me as I did back. "Sorry I perfer hugs over shakes." I smiled as they left.
