Nineteen

I walked along the streets of the village. The weather was calm and the leaves flew through the air nicely.

I had on a light sweater, some cargo shorts, and a pair of my high tops. My hair was styled in a high messy bun and I held my water bottle in my hand.

Today I was walking to my 7-month checkup. Overall the baby has been very healthy and my health has also improved.

I would shamefully admit that I didn't have anything to live for until I found out about my baby. Of course, Aki was there but everything felt almost robotically.

I didn't have anything going for myself and life wasn't fit for me but once it was confirmed my mindset changed.

I had goals in my life now and I wanted to be a wonderful mother to my baby. I would raise the baby in a wonderful home with the help of its wonderful godmother, Aki.

I decided to wait until I gave birth to find out the gender, I saw it as a small bet I had with Aki.

She wanted it to be a girl and it didn't matter to me until she said that. Now I want it to be a boy so I could bet against her.

I made my way inside the building and suddenly a wave of fear washed over me. A figure in the lobby caught my attention as a familiar face appeared not long after.

'Are you fucking serious?'

I tried to be as normal as possible but I actually could not sit still. My leg anxiously bounced and I caressed my stomach subconsciously.

I nurse with the clipboard exited. "L/n." She announced as it was my turn to go in for my appointment.

I recognized those two men. They were guards at Madara's place. I quickly sped past them and into the back room.

"You seem to be excited today for your checkup." The nurse obliviously said. I just nodded and followed her to the room.

I turned around catching a glimpse of the guard only to see he was already watching me and had quickly pulled out a phone.

Panic ran throughout my body.

"Okay let's get started shall we?" She motioned me toward the chair. I pulled out my phone and sent Aki a quick text.

The whole appointment went by in a second,

One second the nurse was placing the jelly on my stomach. Then another I was looking at the monitor that showed my healthy baby.

"Are you sure you don't want to know the gender?"

"No that's alright, I want it to be a surprise." I forced a smile,

We finished up everything and the nurse escorted me out back to the waiting room.

I walked out of the automatic doors and rummaged through my bag for my phone.

The sound of a voice clearing made me stop in my tracks. My eyes locked with the guard whom I had run into.

"It's been a while y/n." I gripped my purse tightly and glared at the man. "Relax, I just want to talk." He motioned his car.

"Are you out of your damn mind? What makes you think I would-"

He pulled out his necklace from his shirt revealing a police badge. My eyes slightly widened but I stood unimpressed.

"So you were a rat." I plainly said. He tucked back in his badge and checked our surroundings.

"My team and I have been watching over you since you got away from Madara. We need to talk." I sighed and hesitantly got into the black vehicle.

"I take it he's found me?" I crossed my arms and gazed out the window. "He's getting close. We are stalling as much as we can but the case is hard to make considering his status."

I glanced over at him.

'Where is he getting with this?'

"Look, I know you would like to stay under the wraps as much as possible but the quicker we can put this guy away the better. We want you to testify against Madara."

"Oh, you must be out of your mind." I laughed in disbelief. He sighed and the car began to slow down. I looked out the window and realized that this was my street.

"How did you....never mind." I exited the car and the officer opened the complex door for me.

"We just want to please consider it." we entered the elevator and I threw my head back in annoyance.

"I rather not get myself killed. Find someone else." The doors opened to my floor. "You've been the closest to him than anyone else. You even experienced being around them firsthand."

We arrived at my door and I unlocked it walking inside knowing that he would follow me. He shut the door and stood in the walkway.

I walked to my bedroom grabbed the item I was looking for and tucked it in my waistband.

"Go ask the hookers and sluts he's always with. I'm sure they'll give you the information you are looking for."

"They're dead."

I stopped in my tracks and looked a him. Silence echoed throughout the room. He observed the house from where he stood and scrunched his eyes in confusion. He focused on my stomach but his eyes widened slightly.

"Wait- You're pregnant?!" He shouted in disbelief. "How?"

"Do you not know the process of how it works or were you never-"

"No, I'm saying. You don't have a boyfriend or anything-"

"Dude it's getting weird," I said blandly.

"Is it his?" I clapped my hands together and smiled. "Wow so do have a brain after all hm? Why else would I be a maternity clinic?"

"I don't know. Some woman things-" He rambled in embarrassment. "Also my name is Genma Shiranui and I've been assigned to protect you."

Aki soon opened the door and nearly dropped everything she was holding. "Who the hell are you" She pointed a knife at him that she had pulled from the knife holder.

"It's alright Aki," I slowly brought her hand down and placed it back where it belonged. However, she still glared at Genma.

After we all sat down and did a run-through of everything the two of us were slightly put at ease. However, there was only more trouble yet to come.
